And if a popsicle is shaken too vigorously, it breaks off.

Oops, sorry. I was running a few too many browser pages last night and didn't pay close enough attention to this one.

I think she was referring to you shaking your manhood. Why such a thought should enter her mind is beyond me...

Really????

Hmm.

I'm not even sure if I have a Great Aunt. I'll have to look into that further, and then get back to you about it at some point.

Hold that thought, okay? Hold it between your knees. ;-D

I expectorate vigorously on your front door, sir, and I wave my implements of destruction in your general direction in an impudent and provocative fashion.

Ho! Ho! Now just who is insulting whom around here anyway?

...then I should pay very close attention to all your good advice, I assure you.

But, alas! Such is not the case. ;-D

Hawk, Hawk, please sit back and fine tune your sense of injustice. You will note my somewhat acerbic comment had a direct antecedent in which yon Bookster wanted to correct a perfectly sound use of English from some imaginary pillar of superiority--much as you often do yourself. Unfortunately this is a premise I find unacceptable, corrosive, and only remediable by a sharp smack on the cybernose.

Perhaps you and Rapaire have four tin ears between you. Speaking of which, the wonderfully resonant phrase "half-wit welkin" is unfortunately an empty one, semantically null. The welkin, you should know, is an archaic phrase for the cosmos, the celestial sphere, the heavens or firmament. It is not usually something one assigns the notion of wittedness to. Even less so, half-wittedness.
Perhaps you meant "winkle", a small Atlantic mollusc?

Ah, yes, another fine example of how to respectfully conduct a conversation from Master Amos....

One of my favorite twitter sites is @thereIfixedit and last week she had a photo from NASA with uses of duct tape in space. Old images, moon visits. Working On the Moon.

What's great this week is that NASA knows about her site and they sent her some NEW photos! I think she's entitled to gush a little when she gets a note and some photos from a NASA engineer who enjoys the site and added to it.

IF you didn't have two tin ears you would recognize the difference between "Gee and Haw" (driving commands) and "Hem and Haw" (a communication dysfunction). To assert it is correct to use one of these clichŽd pairings instead of the other--equally well-worn, and equally irrelevant to anything a hand--is the epitome of condescension and presumption on your part, an undue air, a self-centered furbelow, a frippery of ego, a patronizing sniff at the world. For fie. For shame. I rub my forefinger in your direction.

What Amos is justifiably famous for is not his cookies, but his bloviatory excercises on this forum which have, in both their dimension and their needless complexity, surpassed all the combined texts of all the classical Greek philosophers of antiquity...presently by a factor of 3.2 per cent. Unlike those texts, however, they have inspired no discernable human advancements in culture or anything else worth mentioning. ;-)

It was only afterward that I realized how astonishing it is that I had never heard of the guy, Stilly. He did croon some, but only as an excuse for he the guys to be on stage playing some really hot jazz.

His voice is not as smooth as Frank's, but he is more versatile. The best piece, among some great stuff was an improv. peice with him on piano, his bass player and the drummer. (The bass player and the drummer were awesome throughout the show, as were the lead trumpet and the alto sax player.)

Now I am seeing ads for Sunsout Little Hawk's Vision 500 piece jigsaw puzzle also. Maybe I better order it. I don't think they are going to be airing Little Hawk and the Hilary blow-up doll on Hallmark.

I keep waiting for ads for Famous Amos cookies, or something.

If I could go back there now, I'd do a great many things differently. But that's because I know now what the things I did then led to, whereas then I didn't know where they were leading to. So...my youth may not have been wasted, as I have learned a number of useful things from it. If I have any future lives beyond this one (and I think I well might...) I can only hope that I will remember enough of the lessons learned in this life and apply them with care next time around so that my youth is a bit better directed than it was in this one.
