Rustic, I don't know what sort of answer LH can give to your question about dachshunds, but from my own observation of one (neutered male) I can assure you that at least the head of the non-erect can suffer "rug rash" from a variety of sources. I understand also, from very recent information, that if the skin of a dachshund's penis is inadvertantly sewn into the stitches of a stomach operation the dog becomes uncomfortable and can even go off his feed.

Dere Mz.Rutledge,
You just could not stay away from here could you? I submit that you entertain yore own fantasies too bizarre and corrupted to describe here in front of the other inmates, az no doubt they would become over agitated and perform very unusual acts upon yore scrawny carcass.

GUEST Thespian, please accept this peace offering that I only just now discovered on Google wholly by accident! I'm sure there's never been anything quite like it here on Mudcat.

Rapaire...you have gone insane....it was bound to happen. Once a great and intelligent mind now wallowing in this cesspool of BS. Another clump in the patty party.

And I?...I no longer even check other threads on this magnificent board of information....so great is the draw of MOAB...awful awful......syncopated algorhythms, ....HOOOOO...more meds, more Coronas...

Little Hawk, I need an answer from you if you can....
Is it true dachshunds with erections can't climb stairs?

From the other POB

But, Bee-dubya, you yourself point out that a holographic model determines past, present and future postings. Were this the case, it would be possible to use MOAB for more than mathematical determinants and/or algorithmic indices. It would be possible (to cite but two examples among many that come to mind) to find the winning lottery numbers for every lottery anywhere, or determine in advance the winner of next year's presidential election (we all KNOW who the losers will be, regardless of who wins).

But more importantly, and more to the point, is the simple fact that analysis shows conclusively that MOAB data is not evenly and randomly distributed throughout the informational matrix, such as would happen if, for example, cattle were randomly and evenly distributed in a pasture, but actually occuring in dataclumps, such as would be expected if cattle in a pasture grouped themselves together in "mini-herds" of varying sizes.

This was determined by the most rigorous imperical testing, using destructive methodologies borrowed from materials testing. The most important of these involved the seismic behavior of waves passing through dataclumps after the explosion of 2.7 kilograms of trinitrotoulene and recorded upon an EEG machine borrowed from St. Mungo's.

Tweed, that link you gave had been given on the MOAB thread a mere two days ago! What is worse is that Amos tried to take credit for it on the "Answer for Spaw" thread earlier today. And now, you have claimed it. What's next? Will Amos invent the wheel, and will you try to usurp it?

And who the hell is "Penelope Rutledge"?

My dear misguided Tweed,

I am somewhat aghast and a bit concerned with your fixation that you have attached to me.
I am also somewhat insulted that you would even suggest that I would consider posting to such an imbecilic thread as this "Mother of all Inane" threads. Dear sir, my time is better spent with a more elite class of people than those found in this septic tank of rotting humanity.
However, I am incensed that you would suggest that I would sign in to such a debacle as a guest under an assumed name. I am quite proud of my heritage and I shall ever sign in to any and all forums under my name, Penelope Rutledge.

Personally, I subscribe to the Holographic MOAB Paradigm. That is to say that all of the information in the MOAB is distributed equally throughout its component parts. It is, therefore, not necessary to read the entire MOAB to understand it. If one thoroughly understands this comma, (Yes, that one. The one that came right after the word "comma".) then one will understand the entire MOAB.

Of course, such a holographic interpretation leads one to wonder why we fools continue to feed more fodder to the obviously sick beast. If the entire meaning of the MOAB can be intuited by proper consideration of the least of its components, then why add more components? Ah! But therein lies the beauty of holographic interpretation. As further posts are made, the essence of all that was posted previously is subtly altered so as to reflect the MOAB not just as it was, but as it is, and as it shall be. If You come back to that comma above in a few days you will notice that its essence has subtly changed in response to the posts that will have taken place since this one.

To paraphrase Joseph Keller:

"That's quite an interpretation, that Holographic MOAB Interpretation."

"Best one there is."

Rapaire, you have hit the nail on the head! Indeed, it is almost as though you had read a recent essay of mine, which is to be published in the October edition of "The Psuedo-Scientific Wanderings", which deals with MOAB in the exact same style that you have demonstrated today!

Bee-Dubya-Ell, you must be unfamiliar with the "WSFE" Act of 1968. It was signed into law by LBJ after before the melee of the Democratic National Convention, as a means to rekindle a sense of credibility to the National and Regional Democrats.

The "WSFE Act" (William Shatner for Everyone) insured that all people, even the poorest of families in Alabama, could have Shatner material to enjoy in their homes. It could only be done with the magnaminous generosity of Shatner, who readily gave his seal of approval. As a result of this, even to this day, Shatner material can be found at an extremely low price in Dollar Stores across North and Central America.

It is important for children to have affordable shoes, but of what use are shoes if one has no Shatner?

An author search at Barnes and Noble.com for "Shatner, William" brings up 66 entries, from Star Trek novels to a book on pet allergies to a book of horse photographs.

He is, indeed, a true Renaissance Man.

Now, as for indexing or otherwise attempting to grasp the content of MOAB, I suggest that it be viewed fractally, and if the fractal shape in the complex plane were extended infinitely above and below the plane as a fractal-shaped "cylinder", and treated as a wire that produces an electrical field, then the electrostatic potential for any point z0 is approximated by by appropriate equation(s) provided enough iterations (n) are done that |zn| is large. Electrostatics, of course, can in this case be viewed as four-dimensional quasi-shapes. I'm certain that, given the forgoing discussion, each of you can determine your own search algorithm. And please, don't simply say "I got algorithm, I got muzak."

I'm stunned! I'm shocked! I'm, once again, totally flumoxed!

"Why?" you ask.

Well, I just this very moment returned from a trip to the Dollar General store. As I was standing in the checkout line I happened to glance at the spinner-rack of $1.00 novels and what should I see? A Star Trek novel (or maybe it was a novelization) actually written by The Shat himself! I was stunned! Little Hawk would have been stunned too. But, he would be stunned to think that the literary endeavors of W. Shatner should be held in such low regard as to be sold at "Cheap and Disposable R Us" for a meazly buck a copy! I was simply stunned to realize that some editor somewhere actually let Willy the Shat write a book!

By the way, I did not buy one of the things.

Yes, Dave the Gnome, it all does make sense. There is a pattern in Chaos, and MOAB proves it. MOAB is so universal that it encompasses all things...and all minds, though most are too preoccupied to realize it. Stephen Fry's auto-biography reveals that he too was enlightened to the power of MOAB!

Mmario, I believe that if you go back through the MOAB thread a few hundred posts, you shall see that the KihgKhandu has made Rustic Rebel the Royal POB...the Purveyor of Beauty.

One thing one must remember about MOAB...the very essence of this wonderful thread is epitomized by the Great and Virile William Shatner, as I am sure, you realize.

There is college money for older students - but most of the time, you have to already BE in school to get it. Which means I still have to have something up front. I have applied for a job at the college I want to attend - if I went to work there, I'd get to go Almost Free. In the meantime, I think I'll keep pursuing the personal trainer thing I started awhile back.

Sail on, sail on my little honey bee, sail on
You gonna keep on sailing till you lose your happy home

Sail on, sail on my little honey bee, sail on
Sail on, sail on my little honey bee, sail on
I don't mind you sailing, but please don't sail so long

All right little honey bee...

I hear a lotta buzzing, sound like my little honey bee

DIRECTIONS FOR DELICIOUS HUSHPUPPIES

Mix hushpuppy mix with water to make medium thick batter (batter should be only thick enough so that it will hold together when dropped into hot grease; if batter is too thick, hushpuppies will tend to be too dry). Drop by the teaspoonful into hot grease (350°). Occasionally dip empty teaspoon into water before dipping hushpuppy batter so that batter will easily fall off of spoon. After frying, drain hushpuppies on absorbent paper.

Exactly. It's the sheer simplicity of it that is so awesome, and which completely eludes the poor wretches among us who do not recognize Shatner for what he is...the very apotheosis and ne plus ultra of talent, wit, sex appeal, and dramatic panache.

The power of the Man can be appreciated by the fact that no one dares any longer to put his name in a thread title on Mudcat, for fear of throwing the entire forum into confusion. Thus he must enter quietly, through the side door as it were, in order to avoid causing a stampede.

That's power, baby!

My dog, a Rat Terrorist, is an unusual animal. When I take him out at night during a full moon, he actually looks at the moon and howls. He doesn't howl unless the moon is full.

But that is not the most unusual thing about him. He has a kind of extra-sensory perceptive power.

When I watch TV, he ignores the set until...now I know this is difficult to believe...something, an ad or program, with William Shatner in it is about to come on.

This power has a 100% no-fail statistic. Whenever my dog runs to the TV and stares at it, I tell my significant other that Shatner is about to appear. And he does!!

My dog, "Tiberius", (named after Starship Capt. James Tiberius Kirk, incidentally!) will then sit and stare at the TV until Shatner is no longer on screen!

I sought the counsel of a pet psychic concerning this, and she told me that the dog indeed has psychic abilities! When I asked her why does this ability seem to arise only when Shatner is on TV, she said, "Well, hell...Shatner is the only thing on TV worth watching!"

Some things are so simple, they are easy to overlook!

Like bee-dubya-ell, I haven't pursued a phud because, as he said, there would be a lot of suggestions for kissing, and I just might make even more explicit suggestions. I was afraid of it when I returned to college, but all except one of those I dealt with had dealt with vets returning from the Korean War and were cool about it. The exception was and still is a fool, and he wasn't a prof anyway. Sometimes it seems to me that the farther a discipline is removed from "the real world" the pettier and more involved in academic politics it gets. I've seen it; my wife worked in colleges and universities for YEARS.

Kim, I'd never, ever, try to stop anyone from getting more schoolin'. My BA in English Lit (and often I was lit, too) was a remarkable achievement, given that it was interupted by my rich Uncle Sammy, a lot of poor grades, and a kid who didn't have a clue about where he was going.

No, I wasn't drafted, I was National Guard and my unit was activated and sent to Vietnam; I ended up in Korea. When you're told that you're going away to war for up to two years BEFORE the end of the semester, 18th Century Literature suddenly isn't quite so important anymore.

Fortunately, when I got back I was physically older, and psychologically MUCH older, and I wanted to get undergrad work over and get on with my life. All I did then was take up with the woman I eventually married and, because I was dating a faculty member and some of my previous friends had returned to teach, I went to faculty parties and such.

I found my niche in libraries, following an aborted grad school stint, a futile attempt to get into another grad school, and finally graduating from what was then one of the best library sci. grad schools in the US. Then, with my wife in working on her doctorate (in law), I started another master's program, in English (writing focus). That school dropped the program before I finished, so I quit.

The last class I took ended on July 3. Prior to that I'd taken two classes last fall, when I was still back in KY.

If you want to go to grad school, do it. Now or later, but if you want to, do it. You're not to old until the sod hits your casket, and maybe not then.

By the way, you might check out a book called "Graining the Mare." It's a collection of Western poetry by women -- I've been "into" so-called "Cowboy" poetry since about 1992 and find it far more vital and involved than much of the current "academic" poetry.

You tell 'em, Kim! And I'm by God proud of my BA in English too! But I'd rather shoot by foot off than even think about pursuing an MA in English! What I would like to do is get a second BA in art and then an MFA. I'm already making a meager yet satisfying living as a visual artist. It would be nice to have some credentials to go along with all the money I'm not making. Only problem (other than lack of funds) is that age has curtailed my willingness to jump through hoops and do stupid meaningless shit just for the sake of a letter on a piece of paper. (At this point, I'm only willing to do stupid meaningless shit for money.) I'm afraid that the probability of student/professor conversations featuring prominent use of the term "Kiss my ass!" would be pretty high.

If I remember right, techies can flip burgers too, just as well as anyone else can.

I know you're being amusing... but the fact is, I'm proud of my degree. I had to work hard to get it. (If it hadn't been for the math, I would have had a much more respectable GPA. I did well in all my literature classes.) If you don't think reading and writing are worthwhile endeavors, then all I can do is offer my pity.

And I've never flipped burgers. Ice cream, actually, was my fast food of choice, and I was damn good at slinging it. But that's what I did while I was still in school.

Now I edit the company newsletter, and write songs, and stories. One of my good friends, who is a novelist, and a teacher (who has a Masters in English) has re-introduced me to the joys of poetry, which I had long forgotten.

So tell me again what's wrong with that?

I applaud Little Hawk for his voicing of a hidden truth. This same truth I have sat on for years, for fear of being ridiculed. Hurrah, now it has been spoken in an open forum! William Shatner is William Shakespear!

Yes! Yes! It is True!

Now that it has been told, can you not see it? Think of the various roles that the Great Shatner has played...from the Twilight Zone to the Price Line.com ads...can you not see the similarities in his unique speech and the writings of Shakespear.

Have you not noticed the drama in his voice even as he speaks of the most mundane thing? Shakespear was a fine dramatist, and comedian...so also is Shatner! Remember Shatner's stirring rendition of Elton John's "Rocket Man"? Such wonderful drama blending perfectly with fine-line comedy!

I believe there is some undefinable something that causes True Greats to live forever, and Shakespear, being a True Great, is living on this earth now, in the form of the one we know as William Shatner!

Truly, we are exceedingly blessed to be living in a world where William Shatner abides!
