As Rapaire makes impeccably clear in his recent dissertations confusing ethno-musicology with sub-atomic particle physics and mortuary science, there is an infinite array of wrong information in the multiverse. The art of Advanced Knowledge Management is in focusing at least 51% of the available attention to intersect with at least 51% of the information that has a relative truth value of more than .7 (where 1 = complete certainty).

Unfortunately this effort is rendered doubly complex, at least, by the plasticity of viewpoints which traverse the multiverse, such as Rapaire's, and which are notorious for high indices of plasticity in the framing of certainty equations. This makes for artificial certainties in regions of heuristically abysmal truth value (cf. Little Hawk).

Amos, et al.:

I can't get to Getaway again this year, but here's something to add to the fun:

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- When it comes to spitting a cricket for distance, the central Wisconsin talent seems concentrated in one Marshfield family. Brian Johnsrud spat a thawed cricket 22 feet, 8 inches at the Central Wisconsin State Fair on Saturday. Minutes later, his son Jared shot his cricket 10 feet, 5 inches to win the 9-to-11 age division.

Brian Johnsrud said the key is to pick the biggest cricket and put it upside down on your tongue. He also said you have to take the deep breath before putting the cricket in your mouth, so you don't swallow the critter.

Daniel Word, 7, won the competition among 5- to 8-year-olds. After spitting his cricket 9 feet, 11 inches, he said it wasn't easy.

I didn't know Francis taught at McGill.

I believe Shatner learned acting at McGill University in Canada, didn't he? His drama teacher would thus be the one to take the blame...or receive the plaudits. William Shatner debuted in Shakespearian acting, and that may explain his rather dramatic flair and general approach to the craft.

Dang, and here I thought all along it was Francis the Talking Mule -- he taught Mr. Ed.

Shatner is not the basis of all acting. He's close, but not quite it. To find the true basis of all acting, one must go a step further and seek out Shatner's teacher. He who taught Shatner is the true basis of all acting.

Mister Ed is the basis of all acting.

And why Shatner is the basis of all acting.

"Sarah Palin" and "think" are completely incompatible concepts.

Amos, you must realize that the effect involves supersymmetric particles, such as the wino. In fact, it is the interaction of the wino with the asymmetic meson and gravitational coupling constant (5.9 x 10^-18) that the new particle, the amos, has been derived. It is predicted (by Reines, who see) that the amos will have little or no effect upon either superstrings or much of anything else of any importance. It is, however, fun to dribble and it comes, much like the gluon, in a variety of "colors." Those identified thus far are puce, beige, off-white, eggshell, and pale cream. It is hypothesized that unlike quarks it will come in right, left, baffling and undecided "directions."

I hope that this clarifies your understanding of why "Duke of Earl" is the basis of all music.

This doesn't bear repeating in "News of Note" because it is so colossally stupid. It's that shit-on-a-stick Sarah Palin opining about American health care and the best way to abandon and confuse senior citizens.

The woman is a moron. Has anyone else mentioned that? Her beauty if far exceeded by her idiocy.

Obama is speaking as I type this. Let's see what silly response her royal behindness comes up with in days to come. Assuming she bothers to listen to this speech and actually think about what was said.

Oh, and note the math used in analyzing the Talbot effect:

Lord Rayleigh showed that the Talbot Effect was a natural consequence of Fresnel Diffraction and that the Talbot Length can be derived using the following formula[2]:
zT= 2a2/ λ
where a is the period of the diffraction grating and λ is the wavelength of the light incident on the grating.

"The Atomic Talbot Effect

Due to the quantum mechanical wave nature of particles, diffraction effects have also been observed with atoms. Chapman et al.[3] carried out an experiment in which a collimated beam of sodium atoms was passed through two diffraction gratings, the second used as a mask, to observe the Talbot effect and measure the Talbot length. The beam had a mean velocity of 1000 m/s corresponding to a de Broglie wavelength of λdB = 0.017 nm. Their experiment was performed with 200 and 300 nm gratings which yielded Talbot lengths of 4.7 and 10.6 mm respectively. This showed that for an atomic beam of constant velocity, by using λdB, the atomic Talbot length can be found in the same way in as the optical case."

Note that your integral has no bearing on either variant, sir. Ptui, redux.

While your comeback was not without wit, it carefully avoided the point. Your interpretation of the law in question, Rent's Rule, was such that it might well have come from Hop On Pop or even Go Dogs, Go!.

As for the anal retentive terrorists, perhaps we should bring in psychiatric types who are more accustomed to dealing with the anal retentive type to learn how they might best be dissuaded. Probably by talking at them a lot...

SImilarly, you imply the Talbot effect would help the ignorant earhtlings around you understand the majesty of your insight into song derivations. The Talbot effect, as we all know, is the effect that produces duplicate images of a wave distribution when it is sent through a diffraction grating, repeated at intervals away from the center. Again, Wikipedia:

"When a laterally periodic wave distribution is incident upon a diffraction grating, its image is repeated at regular distances away from the grating plane. The regular distance is called the Talbot Length and the repeated images are called Self Images or Talbot Images. At half the Talbot length, a self image also occurs but is phase-shifted by half a period. At smaller regular fractions of the Talbot Length, subimages can also be observed."

This obvious has a great deal to do with the diffusion of song derivations, but only the Mighty may comprehend what, exactly, I am sure. Ptui, sirrah, you are a rascally villain and nothing else.

Oh, crap! This is important enough to quote in full:

A al-Qaeda-affiliated Saudi suicide bomber, carrying explosives in his anal cavity, managed to get close to the Saudi deputy interior minister and detonate himself (the minister was unharmed); analysts fear this may be a new method of carrying explosives on a plane

An affiliate of al Qaeda has taken a page from the drug mule's playbook, hiding an improvised explosive device (IED) in the anal cavity of a suicide bomber who detonated himself in late August in Saudi Arabia, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reports.

The terrorist, a wanted militant from al-Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsular (AQAP), pretended to renounce terrorism and repent in order to get close to Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, Saudi Arabia's deputy interior minister who leads the kingdom's counter-terrorism campaign.

In the attack on August 28, the bomber obliterated himself but the prince survived shaken but unharmed.

AQAP claimed credit for the attack in an Internet statement but was coy about the method, declaring: "No one will be able to know the type of this device or the way it was detonated."

The AAP credits the U.S. private intelligence services firm, STRATFOR, with the intimate details of the suicide bombing. According to the firm's intelligence report, the bombing signals a paradigm shift in suicide bombing tactics.

The third tactical shift is perhaps the most interesting, and that is the use of an IED hidden in the anal cavity of the bomber. Suicide bombers have long been creative when it comes to hiding their devices. In addition to the above-mentioned IED in the camera gear used in the Masood assassination, female suicide bombers with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam have hidden IEDs inside brassieres, and female suicide bombers with the Kurdistan Workers' Party have worn IEDs designed to make them look pregnant. However, this is the first instance we are aware of where a suicide bomber has hidden an IED inside a body cavity.

It is fairly common practice around the world for people to smuggle contraband such as drugs inside their body cavities. This is done not only to get items across international borders but also to get contraband into prisons. It is not unusual for people to smuggle narcotics and even cell phones into prisons inside their body cavities (the prison slang for this practice is "keistering"). It is also not at all uncommon for inmates to keister weapons such as knives or improvised stabbing devices known as "shanks." Such keistered items can be very difficult to detect using standard search methods, especially if they do not contain much metal.

Matthew Harwood reports that the firm says that the modest amount of explosives able to fit inside a human anal cavity means the tactic is ideal for assassination. "It does pose real issues for airline security if the bomb is inside the person," Dr. Carl Ungerer, national security policy director for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute."That's why perhaps there is now going to be a real push for these scanning type machines."

It is still a mystery how the suicide bomber detonated the IED inside him, although a remote control is the most likely culprit. The incident does reveal another insecurity. If someone can conceal an IED inside their body, they could carry it on a plane, remove it, and then detonate it in "a strategic location," says STRATFOR.

Where do you think I got the Rule, Amos? From "Hop On Pop"?

However, just for you:

{ Integrate[ Sin[(x^(n+1))/(n+1)], {x,0,t}],
Integrate[ Cos[(x^(n+1))/(n+1)], {x,0,t}] }

If you associate this with the Talbot Effect you might perhaps get a glimmer of what I'm talking about, but I doubt it.

Rent's rule pertains to the organization of computing logic, specifically the relationship between the number of external signal connections to a logic block (i.e., the number of "pins") with the number of logic gates in the logic block, and has been applied to circuits ranging from small digital circuits to mainframe computers.

In the 1960's, E.F. Rent, an IBM employee, found a remarkable trend between the number of pins (terminals T) at the boundaries of integrated circuit designs at IBM and the number of internal components (g), such as logic gates or standard cells. On a log − log plot, these datapoints were on a straight line, implying a power-law relation T = tgp where t and p are constants (p < 1.0, and generally 0.5 < p < 0.8). Rent disclosed his findings in IBM-internal memoranda, but the relation was described in 1971 by Landman and Russo.[1] They performed a hierarchical circuit partitioning in such a way that at each hierarchical level (top-down) the least number of interconnections had to be cut to partition the circuit (in more or less equal parts). At each partitioning step, they noted the number of terminals and the number of components in each partition and then partitioned the sub-partitions further. They found the power law rule applied to the resulting T versus g plot and named it "Rent's rule". It is crucial to recognise that Rent's rule is an empirical result based on observations of existing designs, and therefore it is less applicable to the analysis of non-traditional circuit architectures. Having said that, it does provide a useful framework with which to compare similar architectures.

Once again, the power of Wikipedia shames the power of a normal library, counter-intuitive though that may be. Theorists explain that it is a function of primary and distributed R{x} elements in the informational hierarchy, where R is relative responsibility of the primary (first author) and secondary (administrators or additional authors) elements responsible for the distribution of information x through the network associated with the hierarchy.

I thought Rent's Rule was stated as:

p(r».5m[±d])=w/~L·37D

Restated in plain English, that's:

The probablity of rent being allowed to slide for a half-month (plus or minus a day or so) is equal to one's willingness to have sex with the landlord multiplied by bra size.

No, it's derived from "Duke of Earl." This song opened a gap in the fabric of space-time, affecting everything that came "before" and "after."

It's easier to explain mathematically than in spoken language. Rent's Rule, T = tg^p is a good place to begin understanding what happened, however.

Just to change the subject a little bit, I've made an amazing musical discovery, one that could change the music as we know it.

ALL music and songs are derived from Gene Chandler's 1962 hit, "Duke of Earl."

Change the notes a little bit, change the tempo slightly, modify the key, and you have every piece of music ever written or which will ever be written, from "Thus Spake Zarathustra" to "Good Golly Miss Molly" to "Greenland Whale Fisheries" to plainsong to Bach's "Concerto For A Whole Lot Of Winds And Percussion."

I think some of them are genuinely misguided, convinced the national government should be a general store with a cracker barrel and a few passers-by dropping in from time to time.

It is understandable to want to strengthen individual rights and State's rights. But with our present population and situation--a web-connected international force dependent on playing in the world -- it just doesn't work out that way.

"Jamie Connor, a graphic designer from Stoke Newington, died yesterday after a planned mountain bike trip to the recycling centre before heading for a Fairtrade organic Latte at the local co-operative coffee shop while listening to George Monbiot podcasts on his iPhone saw him suddenly explode with smugness.

Upon hearing that Connor's family were to plant trees to ensure his explosion was carbon neutral, Jeffrey Clarke, a neighbouring Daily Mail reading Top Gear fan who was out washing his third car while listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2, spontaneously combusted with pompous indignation."

I just ordered a new, custom-built job. It will have the disk partitioned so I can run Linux as well as Microslop. At least it will come with Windoze XP and not Vista ("Fish and Vista Stink After Three Days"). The monitor, keyboard, and trackball are good, and I've backed up 'most everything on a 1TB external hard drive. It's the "'most" that's bothersome, as well as the money I have to shell out.

2.8 GHz, dual core, 250GB HDD, 6 USB ports, all that good stuff.

The scumsucking, sluglicking, doofoid had better remember to lower things before h/she tries to drive under a REAL high tension line -- 880,000 volts, for instance, like the crane drive I had to investigate (after the incident) in Korea. Stick of carbon: "   ."

'Twould be best for the chap if I never find out who s/he is. Fortunately, it did not affect Pat's computer, upon which I am posting this.

I shall refrain from discussing the ancestry, habits, intelligence and hygiene of this unwanted, scrofulous, pus-licking, piece of filth who is obviously descended from a line of lizard-screwing, anacephalic, banjo and nose pickers.
