I realize it is 12 hours before MOM would drop off the bottom but on the screen she is third from the edge right now. Time to give her a boost back up.

I'm tearing up the inside of the closet to get just the right amount of space for some of the shelves I'm putting up. I'll go back to my bent nails and sawdust now.

You're welcome!

Bahston is whatevah and a quahhhtah owahs from Bah Habbha. What I wanna know is where Rap is. Amos will be here within the hour.

I am all atwitter. And fookin wore out... 6AM to 2PM cleaning this dump up! My back has precluded keeping the mess down since February. Mum's house? Spotlees. My house... big fookin spot.

Eight hours ago, I wrote at FB...

WELL! THAT WAS FUN! I have seen and heard Amos on You Tube and thought he was great. Listening to him in my living room actually was "studio quality" stuff. As if I was there while he was recording. Wonerful geetar and rich voice.... RICH voice. The lads have sacked out. I am wired... still all atwitter and agog as I don't get much company unless someone like Amos insists (long story). I even was given permission to touch his geetar! All I did was check out the action from end to end with thumb and forefinger.... sweeeet! I even got a few pics! His bro is an amazing artisan and a cool dude. We had a lot of laughs. Amos actually got me to play a wee bit of Hran and.... sing with him. I haven't done either in years and I kinda think the little I could do was appreciated. Then again, ya know them Yanks eh, chante ma pomme la, eh? Damn! I ain't gonna get to sleep for a while yet.
*******************************************************************

I just had big goodbye hugs with Amos and Gabe. What a HOOT! What a night. Many laughs. Many stories. And You Tube vids of Amos pale in comparison to having a front row seat 8' from the stage in a living room. The richness of the voice will echo in my head for a long time... he even sounded good with the shower on and the door closed this AM. (EJ... you'll have to email him. He is at Tim's gettin coffee and then on his way... he had to return from the car which had to be moved at 6AM due to street construction to ask for directions to the highway... heheheee!) Oh what a night!

It's a damn shame that Amos could not have made it over to the Blind River area to meet Shane and Don, then down to Orillia to hang out with me and the other players here. Shane could have taken him to see Seldom Seen Road, for gosh sakes! Hardly anyone has ever seen it, but it's still there.

Amos came a knockin again after I posted. Couldn't find his hat. I searched upstairs and he downstairs. No hat. I figure he packed in his kit before he left and will find it soon enough... or it's in the car... on accounta I did a thorough search of everywhere he was. I even got under the cellar steps to see if it was there.

He told me to mail it to him if I did find it. Hahahaha! Not fuckin likely! He'll have to come back for it. And I'll make him entertain again before he gets it.

Yes... I am still atwitter AND agog.

They forgot 4 beers. Busch. Oh, I spotted them and thought I should say, "Don't ferget yer beers." Hahahahaa! Not fuckin likely! It's not bad. I'd say it's clear and bright as mountain air. Better, actually on accounta it's free.

Amos now has hair on his chest. I didn't see it, of course, nor would I want to. He said my Kent County tea would "put hair on your chest". Yup. I gotta wear a large size t-shirt from drinkin it.

Gee whiz... so many thought are whizzing thru my mind. A pisser of an eve and this AM was filled with laffs too.

Thank you, Amos and Gabe.

Escaped from Canada!! Hahahahaha! The RCMP couldn't hold me in their jails! Back in the USA, under the protection of good ol' Uncle Sammy! The Canadian jail wasn't built that could hold me! Sham, of course, couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag with a mission statement, a compsass, a flashlight, and directions.

This is mighty fishy! Are Rap and Amos going to meet at some point back in the Maritimes or in Maine?

gnu, MOM wants to know if you guys talked about us when we weren't there? And is Rapparee going to visit you also?

No. Rapparee is now wanted in Canada for escaping from jail, hitting a cop with a cod piece, defaming maple syrup, bad mouthing Don's cherry, not giving a puck about hockey, confusing Moosehead and Labatt's, and has been framed by the RCMP for molesting an underage beaver.

There is a faint chance that I might perhaps meet up with Kendall and Jacqui, maybe.

Tomorrow we will be in Rockland, ME and can get our laundry done. this will throw Yukon King off the scent and Sergeant Preston will be busted to Corporal Preston.

SRS... Mudcat was brought up in conversation when Gabe asked how Amos and I became aquainted. Amos explained it to Gabe. As well, the MOAB was briefly explained and names dropped with short comments like, "Yeah, she's cool!" and "That guy is a hoot!" Olddude was discussed because I had to show off the watch and Pat's jersey he gave me.

Rap did ask for directions and travel time. I pretty much told him it would be a waste of his time to travel 6+ hours just to visit me, among other considerations. Amos was travelling on a highway that passes within a few km of me AND it was a convenient place to crash that fit perfectly into his journey. It was a win-win. PLUS, imagine how much work would have been involved in cleaning this dump up to female standards!

"detour"??? That would have taken at least a week. Longer if the flies were tick eh?

Nudder snippet....... I made a point of showing A and G the empty headed Bee Mop and saying, "I wore the fucker out!" I told them to keep their shoes on. G did not! He preferred to go BAREfoot! In MY house! I haven't heard from them. I hope Gabe is okay.

Now, I gotta tell ya! Them Yanks is good, pOlite lads. I laid out the fine towels and such. They both showered (Gabe ain't got no electrickery er such up along so's it'll be a while before the next) and I'll be damned iffin they both didn't use the same towel! Now, THAT there is conservation!

I gotta tell yas this before A does. They bunked, like I said, and I was wired... stoked!!!... I went into my office and posted here. I also wanted to share on FB. I opened Hoochie Coochie Man on YT and shared. Next thing... A pushed open the office door. He was not amused. My speakers are on the floor right above the downstairs bedroom! He said that he just woke up listening to himself. I was completely aghast! and VERY embarrssed! And a tad tipsy (read rather inebriated). Sorry A.

I share all of Gnuzer's delight--it was a rich and varied treasure to sit by and listen to his grand tales, peppered with a few hard-earned Newfie expressions like "mark THAT, me son!" and "Oh, lord Jaysus Christ!". He's much better in all ways than he gives himself credit for--it's that Canadian politesse. Gabe and I had a long talk on the way up into Nova Scotia about what a fine lad is Mister Gnu. And he has a fine baritone voice, as well, a pleasure to hear him sing and 'hran it up a bit.

Just now we are tied up in the yacht basin at Charlottwetown, Prince Edward island, Canada, waiting out a bit of a snotty blow from the nor;west. We ran down here from the interesting tiny thing called Pequot Island which has a very small harbor and a lot of dirt roads with red-haired rabbits loping hither and yon among them. The run down to PEI was languid--we had a few hours wind, and then had to motor for a few hours. But over the night it turned very choppy and we are tyoo lazy to face forty-knot winds if we don't have to.

We had come up to Pequot Island from Ballantyne's Cove on the side of Cape George which is near where Gabe's summer cabin is. It's a small cabin built high on a bluff looking out over the Northumberland Strait (between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward). High enough so you can see eagles cruising down toward the water. But no 110V electircity or plumbing to speak of. The run down from Cape George was a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but the 24-foot Flicka is a very seaworthy boat and cousin Gabe is a master mariner, so we rode down with no worries. (Note--he's my cousin, not my bruvver, althoough I love him like a bruvver).

I don't know when I will next get an internet connection but I will send Mom a postcard and tell you more when i can.

A

I am still atwitter and agog because of the visit of A and G and now, ablush. Glowing praise indeed and it comes from someone I admire and respect and I am blessed to call a friend.

Amos (and Gabe)... I waxed up the tunable after reading your post above. Yeah, it sounded like shit when you were here and Gabe said play THAT one (the non-tunable) so fast it made me laff. So, I was lucky my baby was okay, even tho I only beat it for a very short time and it was a poor beating (years of no practice can ensure that). I hadn't waxed the tunable for over five years. I showed you the problem, A. But, I waxed the tunable and ta hell with the problem. Dropped me ciapan at least 6 times this afternoon in less than 20 minutes. Had ta crawl under me desk once ta get the sucker. Your visit and your praise mean I HAVE to try. Resurgo! Thanks.

Well SOB! The inner ring is off the frame at one adjustment screw! Hmmmm... short of the long, the Hran has a buzz that requires retuning as the water treatment dries. I shant bother explaining what it takes to get proper tone from a Hran through an eve of playing. It's an art unto itself. Suffice it to say ye geetar and such players is lucky ye can tune and be done with it fer a set at a time. Ye even got thingywhatsits fer strappin on yer stringed stuff an changin the works in a heartbeat. Lazy bastards!

Yer just bangin on a drum? Not fookin likely. Example.

As for BDiBR, Sham would be better off if he were shanghai'ed onto a fishing boat for a long, long sea voyage as bait for crab traps. Or as a deckhand on the tramp freighter. A couple of years of good honest work, coupled with beatings by the others of the crew, various ne'er do wells in places like Tonga and Sydney, and a few keelhaulings would make a man out of him.

Well, Amos sure owes us a lot.

By the way, I have photographic PROOF that Amos' ancestors were nearly literate. Yes, the public library in Bah Hahboh is named for his family! Of course, they didn't know how to spell their last name, leaving the second "s" out. That's what I mean by nearly literate.

I also saw the Peavey Library in Eastport. It's got a cannon in front. Every public library should have a cannon or two. That's my professional librarian opinion.

I'm flying back to SLC tomorrow.

I see that the quarter-wit, the scurrilous, scrofulous, clapt-out Sham McBride, pride of the underside, has not seen fit to respond. Obviously he is again in the Blind River Free Clinic, getting his rotten crotch cured.

I have blown in from the far end of Northumberland Strait into Balantyne's Cove on the sheltered side of Cape George, and am safe ashore now. It was a helluva romp across from Wood Island to here, with large swells and choppy waves and a ferocious gusty wind that ran up to thirty knots at times. But the Kore Mikte was equal to the task and we hunkered down and trusted her. It was wild enough for me, having been off the sea for a few decades, but in fact we only reefed the main one point and left the jib unreefed, and despite the rocking and rolling, the boat was clean and sturdy and ran steady on. I was glad to have a veteran skipper minding the store, I don't mind saying. Overall a great sail!! WEather mostly perfect except for a little rain, and the ports and people we saw were fine and interesting visits.

Stay up there, me Mom!!

Well done Hranning, old son!! Keep it up!! It was a grand thing to hear.

Such adventures we have had this summer! Attending a family wedding in early August sounds mild, but it can be quite risky. Consider these two words: Family Dynamics. As it turned out, the most dynamic of the family sibs wasn't there, sparing the rest of us the uncomfortable anticipation of histrionics. But it could have gone that way. :)

SRS... scary stuff that. Barely avoiding a harrowing experience can be traumatic. I shudder to think what may have ensued if Rap had drawn Rapier in plunder and pillage within the lands of Her Royal Bettyness! Why, the summary drawing and quartering of him, his entrails sizzling on hot iron to be eaten by her loyal subjects in front of him as life ebbed away slowly... I'd sooner get a Big Mac and fries and a hot apple pie fer that tho. Even if offered BBQ sauce. Why, I'll bet you couldn't even cut the gravy with a knife!

Sinking a Spanish galleon is a foolish thing to do. The ship itself is generally worth a good deal more than its cargo, unless it's a treasure ship full of gold, and then it's still worth a lot in any case. Why waste the profits by sinking it?
