From: GUEST,Sorcha, Absconded Cookie Again

Folks, I've been losing it for years, but I've really gone round the bend now. Things are disappearing around here. Besides my mudcat cookie in the last 3 days I've lost a pepper shaker, a bottle of Weed B Gone, a bottle of RoundUp concentrate, forgot to return library books and had a $2.00 fine, went to the grocery store and forgot why I was there (still haven't remembered).......I think I better get May over with and de stress before I lose something critical...........

Just be careful that the Weed B Gone doesn't turn up in your pepper shaker!

Based on previous experience:

The pepper shaker is right where it's supposed to be. You're just looking too hard. (Or else, check the fridge.)

You left the Weed B Gone and RoundUp outside. Trust me - they're out there. Check under the juniper.

The butts are under your car seat.

You went to the store to buy some Ginko.

Please feel free to ask if you need any more help with this sort of thing. Now if I could just find my reading glasses...

...no, they aren't on my head, but thanks anyway!

The pepper shaker is NOT in the kitchen.
I don't have a juniper or even an evergreen.
The butts are NOT under the car seat, I looked there.
No, I went to the store to buy Q-tips, supper, canned pumpkin for the dogs and fem. supplies for Kate. Remembered when it was Feeding Frenzy Time. But Ginko might help..........lol.

Drive thru where our son works. Yes, lucky god gods. Safflower oil with kibble for breakfast, plain yogurt, pumpkin and hot water for supper. Slice of apple for bedtime treat. Carrot, broccoli, or anything if no apple. Not spoilt! They sleep on our bed too.......

Had memory problems a few years back, Sorcha. It culminated in my forgetting how to turn off the bright lights in my car. In desperation, I threw the car in reverse at 45mph and screwed up the transmission royally. Batteries of tests later, I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. Within days of starting medication, I was back to normal - leaving the pepper in the freezer and hot coffee in the refrigerator.

Did you maybe go to the supermarket to replace the pepper shaker? Just a thought.

Sorcha,

Go to bed early. Get a full eight hours sleep. Do this several nights in a row. Don't drink much caffeine. Drink lots of water. The ginko wouldn't hurt. But get enough sleep. That will help more than anything else. Keep getting enough sleep.

Doesn't feel like a cold, just too much stress and the bloody weather yo-yo. Had a nursing home gig tonight and had plenty of energy, just not much voice. Oooooo gawd. Please be over, May so I can take a book, the dogs and lots of bear to the lake for a few hours...........still have not found anything. But my car is still running.

2) RoundUp--found on shelf above washer where I thought it was by Mr.
   I just couldn't see it
3) Weed B Gone found by Mr on the dry sink on the patio--bottle turned
sideways and I couldn't see it
What does that leave besides the Mudcat cookie and the cigs?
This is really, really bad.............

I'll bet something is in the garage. That's where I'm always leaving things.

I'm always leaving my cordless phone in peculiar places, including the garage. A couple of times I have had to resort to ringing it up from my mobile so I can hear it ringing and find it!

I had a bad moment at the folk club the other night. I could not figure out if I had lost a pint of bitter or lost half an hour. Never did figure it out so decided to go on the strong bitter and loose the rest of the night as well!

Good fun trying to direct my mate Mike who was giving me a lift to my new house at the end of the night. Couldn't quite remember where that was either:)

Reading glasses:these are only £10 at Safeways. I've bought three pairs and just leave them lying about, at least youve got three chances of finding one pair. Cigs are much the same, I would guess. Splash out on a lot of packets and scatter them around in likely, and also unlikely places. Car keys likewise. Get loads of sets. One for each person who drives it. Two in the Proper Car Key place. One hidden somewhere outside the house. And most important, one attached to the car, well-hidden, but accessible when the car is locked.
Then there is the problem of the car itself, especially in large supermarket carparks.

I couldn't remember the name of the wholesaler that I get my lemons from, so I asked my daughter. When she told me the name, it didn't ring a bell at all! Then I went to Liverpool to visit my man, and stood on the station and didn't recognise anything. I knew I must have been in the right place because the name of the station was on the wall!

If anyone sees any marbles rolling around, they're mine.

Don't kid yourself. The Weed B Gone and the RoundUp really were missing and, in fact, they still are. They were taken by the organic gardening fairies. The bottles that you think turned up are really earth-friendly alternatives that the fairies left in place of the nasty chemicals.

And khandu has stolen your cookie. It is the only way he can retain his rapidly slipping hold on The Kingdom of Mississippi. He is stealing people's cookies and is going to offer to return them in exchange for support for his feeble and, ultimately, ill-fated attempt to keep his throne. Expect a PM from him in the near future.

Wait a minute! If you don't have a cookie, he can't PM you, can he? Har, har, har! What an idjit! No wonder he's about to be overthrown!

I've managed to drive to the shops and catch the bus home... it's only when I went to get my shopping out of the car, I remembered where I'd left it!

When we had two cars I frequently drove to the shops in the red one and wondered why I couldn't find the blue one in the car park when I'd finished.....

I've done worse though. I rode my bicycle to choir practice one Friday evening. I then went to the pub, went home, went to bed. Saturday, I had to sing at a wedding in church. Sunday I went to church as normal, two services, morning and evening.

Monday morning I wanted to go to the market, for which I take the bike, using the handy basket on the front. Where was it?

Outside the church where I'd parked it Friday night and walked past it at least 6 times since, thinking - I've got one like that!

I know, that is why I wanted to find it to dispose of it properly. I have been doing organic for years, and now have billions and billions fo dandelions. Don't mind them when blooming, but they are awful with the seed heads and proliferate rapidly. Would like to get rid of them!

best way to get rid od dandelions is by hand; there is even a special tool for it that helps get the root...I use a little flat awl-kinda thing myself...

The guy with the garden plot next to mine in the Fens uses Round-up; when I told him he shoudl at least pull the plants up before spraying it, so as to use LESS POISON, his reply was "I'm tired of pulling them up." I want to wring his neck. Not sure if complaining to the Garden Society wil do any good. I am thinking of printing out some articles on the research studies linking Round-up to non-Hodgkins lymphoma and giving them to him...

Do not underestimate the folks at Monsanto. They already have genetically engineered RoundUp Ready soybeans, corn and cotton that aren't affected by the stuff. Just give 'em a few years and they'll bioengineer us some RoundUp Ready people.

Best thing to do with the dandelions is, make wine with the flowers (the gypsy spring tonic), eat the young tender greens and roasted roots are used as a coffee substitute (like Chicory). Root is also used for liver and diabetes. Great herb for the blood.
Recipe for wine; add ginger and lemon slices for extra flavor- 1 gallon boiling water, 3 1/2 lbs. sugar to each one gallon of flowers. Flowers only no green left on them. Add a wine yeast. Sit 14 days room temp. strain, drink or bottle. Cheers!
Peace, Rustic

Just remember the old story.

THe Curate was used to cycling around the Parish. One day his bicycle went missing - so he asked the Bishop what to do.

Ah ! said the Bishop, Preach on the 10 commandments next Sunday, and see if the Thief has a concience.

Come the Monday the Bishop telephoned the Curate, did you get you bike back ??

Yes said the Curate, when I got to "Thou shall not comit Adultary", I remembered where I'd left it.

Boom Boom

well done Rustic; dandelions are a VERY useful plant! If you can find a clean source of the young greens in spring they are very health-giving...the roasted root is a nice coffee substitute or stretcher...and my dad used to make dandelion wine when I was a kid. He also would gather and steam the greens in spring...

no - he just liked having a cheap labor source. *grin* There was never a problem getting us out of the house...there was always the swamp to play in (contests to see who could smash the most skunk cabbages) or sword fighting with the japenese bamboo (it split easily - and stung like the dickens!) or measuring the depth of the mudholes in the salt marsh (most easily done by jumping in) or playing tag in the ruins of the old grist mill, or follow the leader through all the above locations, or cannon-balling the tourists at the boardwalk, or tickling trout at the hatchery, or swimming (half a dozen locations within walking distance).

I am SO glad other folks do this... number of times I've found the car keys in the fridge...
And then there are the times I've been dusting and put the cloth down and couldn't find it for half and hour (though it's agood reason to do someting more interesting!).
Mother reckons I'm a good 'looker-for' but a lousy 'finder-of'.
Personally, I reckon it's house-elves..
