Here's a verse (or chorus) that I composed when I was a teen ager, during WWII when almost anything that tasted good was rationed.
(note) "stove" is yankee for gas cooker.

Home, Home on the stove
With the spinnach,. the carrots and groves,
where seldom is seen
Roast Beef, so lean,
And the gas isn't turned on all day

After writing this song (30 years back) I always wanted to add a 3rd verse. When we moved back to Colorado in 2010, the Muse finally lent me a hand -
