Subject: Lyr Add: Home On the Front Range From: voyager Date: 20 May 03 - 06:38 PM HOME ON THE FRONT RANGE (circa 1980) ------------------------------------ Oh give me a home In a disarmament zone Where the breeder reactors won't prey Where seldom you'll see Rad-io-act-ivity And the ozone stays intact All Day. CHORUS Home Safe from the bomb A hearth That always stays warm Some person you're Lovin' And no microwave oven Singing tunes to move you along. Oh give me some space Free of nuclear waste And the fallout That comes with the storm Where working makes sense You pay low budget rents And the neighbors still party 'Til dawn CHORUS [Insert your verse here] voyager BTW - My mudcat handle was derived from our '95 Plymouth Voyager which was stolen 2 weeks ago. I may have to reintroduce myself to this cyberfolk community as CARAVAN since we bought a new van. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Home On the Front Range From: CRANKY YANKEE Date: 20 May 03 - 09:27 PM Here's a verse (or chorus) that I composed when I was a teen ager, during WWII when almost anything that tasted good was rationed. (note) "stove" is yankee for gas cooker. Home, Home on the stove With the spinnach,. the carrots and groves, where seldom is seen Roast Beef, so lean, And the gas isn't turned on all day Jody By the way, Home on the range is a terrific song, look past the first verse, subsequent ones are very poetic indeed. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Home On the Front Range From: voyager Date: 25 Apr 12 - 11:31 PM After writing this song (30 years back) I always wanted to add a 3rd verse. When we moved back to Colorado in 2010, the Muse finally lent me a hand - Crossed the country by car With a Martin guitar To make the Front Range our new home And now we are settled Like Ma and Pa Kettle Here where the buffalo roam voyager |
