Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,Zany Mouse Date: 04 Jun 03 - 05:55 PM Hi Max Welcome back. Hope the housemove wasn't too traumatic. Many thanks for the great service you give. ZM |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Max Date: 04 Jun 03 - 06:14 PM Money for? We're self financed, meaning I pay for everything. $250 for connectivity, $100 per month in electricity, and at least $500 associated with the move of Mudcat alone. Hardware costs, software costs, so on and so on. Sorry it its not clear that we just always need money, or if I was short, but I didn't have much time. |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,Animaterra Date: 04 Jun 03 - 06:22 PM I'm so glad you're back, but when I try to log in or look up a song on the DT I'm getting error messages. I'm sure there are still glitches and I promise to be patient! Just thought you'd want to know. |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,Sorcha Date: 04 Jun 03 - 11:09 PM Still won't let me get a cookie for membership. Assume that is still my problem. It was before. I owe you about $35 for using Mudcat for the Chocolate T-shirts. Will be in the mail soon. Thanks for everything. Been having Chat withdrawal......Jon fixed that. You should look at what Jon has done. Much better than the cfChat Mudcat is using, IMO. |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: hesperis Date: 05 Jun 03 - 02:51 AM Sorcha - try deleting all your temporary internet files before logging in, and if that doesn't work, download and use a different browser THEN try to log in with your usual one. |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Mark Cohen Date: 05 Jun 03 - 04:36 AM Joe, what are you doing up at 1:30 on a Thursday morning? And whatever the answer, why are you at your computer? I second Joe's emotion. Your work is greatly appreciated, Max. I hope the move went well and that you and your family are enjoying the new digs...or will, once the boxes are all unpacked--say, some time before Lily starts kindergarten? Aloha, Mark |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,Jon Date: 05 Jun 03 - 06:03 AM Sorcha, there is 1 big drawback with the type of chat I set up and I would guess that is why its not used here. There are compatibily issues, e.g. Web TV's don't support Java, it can be harder for people behind firewalls to use, etc. I'm not a fan of chats that use a HTTP (web) server and rely on the browser refreshing but you can guarantee that just about everyone will be able to use them. I would imagine that is why this type has been chosen for Mudcat. |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Morticia Date: 05 Jun 03 - 07:27 AM Glad to see you back and hope the move wasn't too truamatic |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST Date: 05 Jun 03 - 08:54 AM Welcome back Max, Mudcat and all you Mudcatters!! Geez, it's good to be home again, ain't it?!? Blessings on your new abode, Max & Co.!! I'm hoping that you remembered to lift with your legs ;-) Thanks for getting us back up and running so quickly. Hogs and snugs to you and the ladies of the house, Áine |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Giac Date: 05 Jun 03 - 09:31 AM A question though -- I didn't realize we were back online until I checked the trouble forum and found that taj was running. When I try to get in on www.mudcat.org, I still get the cryptic message that the Cat is down. Will this be fixed, or is taj the only way to get in? Glad to be in, no matter the route! Mary |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,Jon Date: 05 Jun 03 - 09:40 AM Giac, I think IP numbers were changed for the temp part of the move. It can take 48 and maybe even more hrs for the information needed to convert names like www.mudcat.org into the IP address (DNS) to filter through the system. |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST Date: 05 Jun 03 - 09:52 AM i'm able to get in by the www.mudcat.org route.... |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,Jon Date: 05 Jun 03 - 09:57 AM That's how it goes Guest. Some will some won't. It's only when the massive system of let's call them indexes on the Internet all catch up and get updated that everyone will. |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: momnopp Date: 05 Jun 03 - 10:57 AM At the shanty sing/pub sing in Wheaton, Maryland USA (FSGW monthly event) Tuesday night, an announcement was made that Mudcat was down and a plea for money along with the mailing address were given out. It was noted that the "loss" of Mudcat would be a severe one for the folk world. And those of us for whom it's become a real home would most definately concur! Go, MAX! You remain an amazing and incredibly dedicated crazy person and we love you for it. Thanks for keeping the dream alive. The Czeck is in the male... Peace, JudyO/momnopp |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Geoff the Duck Date: 05 Jun 03 - 11:04 AM When I last posted - not that many minutes back, I didn't have a cookie and the site wouldn't let me log on. Now I have returned my identity is back to normal (if you can ever describe my identity as that). I didn't need to log on - my personal page just returned of its own accord! Is the mudcat like Little Bo Peep's sheep - leave it alone and it comes home, but its tail follows later? Quack! GtD. |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Maryrrf Date: 05 Jun 03 - 11:42 AM Although I haven't posted in a while, I missed Mudcat when it was down. I've put one of my CD's up for auction and 100% of the proceeds go to Mudcat. I have contributed directly in the past but personal finances are rather tight right now. Hope that helps with the financial side of it. |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,ClintonHammond Date: 05 Jun 03 - 03:01 PM WB Max! Hope the move went as well as could be expected.... Little help here logging in maybe? Or do I just have to wait for things to "catch up"? I come to the URL... go through the log-in process... it loggs me in, but when I come back to the threads, I'm still logged out... Any 4-1-1 folks? :-) |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Joe Offer Date: 05 Jun 03 - 03:22 PM Hi, Clinton - clear your browser cache and close all browser windows except one, then go to Mudcat and log in again. That usually does the trick. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,ClintonHammond Date: 05 Jun 03 - 03:42 PM Have done Joe... still got caught in the same endless loop (FYI Netscape 7.01) |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,ClintonHammond Date: 05 Jun 03 - 03:48 PM Also FYI After logging in, and landing at the page " You cookie has been reset. You are now acting as blah blah blah with email address suchandsuch...." The url for the link that reads "Click here to view or edit your personal data " Has the IP# in the url line, where as all the other URLs on the page (Lyrics & Knkowledge, "You ahve 4 Messages" and such) all point to www.mudcat.org... and clicking them either brings up the error message -------------- Error Occurred While Processing Request Error Diagnostic Information An error has occurred. HTTP/1.0 404 Object Not Found Please inform the site administrator that this error has occurred (be sure to include the contents of this page in your message to the administrator). --------------------------- Or it brings me to the page that was up saying that Mudcat is temp down, please send money to this addy.... ???? Now you're beyond me, Clinton. I will call upon the expertise of Pene Azul, who is able to climb the highest summit... -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: GUEST,nutty Date: 05 Jun 03 - 04:56 PM Joe .... I am having the same problems as Clinton .... It won't let me reset my cookie but then I seem to remember never having had a cookie when I joined Mudcat this way. I certainly was never able to access mudchat when I came in through the numbers so the problem may be solved when we can come in through the front door again. |
Subject: RE: The Mudcat is Back From: Joe Offer Date: 05 Jun 03 - 05:07 PM Hi, Nutty - It looks like the usual solutions don't work this time. I asked Pene Azul to look in on this thread. He's always able to come up with a solution. -Joe Offer- |
