Have just spent an excellent evening at the Tudor barn in Eltham. It was really nice to meet up with old friends and to see returning visitors from as faraway as America. The Folkmob seeme to have it really together when it comes to putting on a great night.

It was really a pleasure to sit around on a Thursday night and have such a great time. The 'round' took time - but everyone listened and enjoyed what others had to offer.
The club usually runs on a Wednesday but is doing the Thursday spot until mid July due to another booking. It is great that numbers have not gone down and there is a lot of support.
Next week is a PA night. Please come along.

Believe all you read people - this is a fabulous venue with really friendly members. They made me very welcome for which I thank them wholeheartedly. I'm just brassed off that I couldn't make Knockholt, it sounds like it was a hoot.

I can't believe that anyone still wishes to continue this old-hat slagging match in public, given the way Round One ended up (i.e. to nobody's credit).

In future I suggest that you don't name names in public unless you're pretty certain that the individual has no objection to being so named. If in doubt, leave it out!

If you weren't around when the last period of misuse of the mudcat to start a neighbourhood spat arose, then you're best off out of it! However I thought I'd seen the end of this singling-out of musicians for snide commentary. Obviously some people's spitefulness knows no bounds.

Do I really need to remind people of the spat a few months back which ended up in a thread being deleted because of the heat occasioned by slagging off some of your neighbours?

Do I need to remind people how it culminated in the mother of all tirades by a certain bruce lee?

All I'm doing is drawing to people's attentions the fact that they are lapsing into bad habits by using people's names in public places where they shouldn't.

If you really couldn't work that one out, then there's not much help I can offer.

It's down to everyone involved in the former spats to think about whether they really want to re-open the can of worms. Naming individuals in public on this board as in the supposedly humorous but actually a "sly dig" manner in an opening post to this thread can only serve to reopen old wounds. Does anyone really want to go there?

Various posters to this thread will know exactly what I mean by the reference to a local musician who has become some sort of a satanic figure to members of a community of musicians who spent some time in the recent past singling him out for vilification.

I believe that such people should keep such feelings to themselves and should not be discussing them in open forums such as this.

If you don't know what I'm taking about then I would suggest that you ask some of your mates. They'll be able to tell the tale, no doubt.

Once again GUEST REFEREE, I can't find a thing that's offensive here. If one of the posters to this thread is, or has been offensive in another thread, then why not start a new thread about it and put your gripes, opinions or whatever there so that people can either agree, disagree or whatever, but why then need to stir things up here in what has, up until today, been a nice friendly thread and a pleasure to be part of is simply beyond me. I like the Tudor Barn I like the people who go there, and I find no harm in them. What's wrong with that. Axe grinding somewhere else please!

I am horribly confused, I started this thread and I have just read it all the way through twice and I can't see any harmful reference to anyone. Referee I may have a vague feeling of what you may be referring to but it goes back a long way, is certainly not mentioned here and as far as everyone involved is concerned is a closed book.

I'm tempted to start in on the usual footballing comments on "ref", but I've just done searches on Kenningham and Bryant and still find nothing to give a foundation to the ref's oddly spiky comment, so I'm still waiting to see what it's all about - does it link to another comment on another thread I saw a month or so back about the folk police going to a folk venue near here - I think the comment objected to was "too country for my taste"?

I think that the name "Referee" is referring to is mentioned in the 4th posing on this thread. As he is so touchy about it, I won't actually quote it except to say that it's not "Woodsie" or "Charles Atlas". I believe that it is all connected with a "Folk Song and Blues Session" which was started at the Dule of Edinburgh at Lee - the thread now appears to have been deleted. There is already a current thread insisting that the word "session" means an instrumental session where everyone plays at the same time, and the gentleman named also believed in this interpretation of the word.

The above was just to put mystified readers in the picture, if "referee" wishes to coment on it would he please put his comments in another thread and he can post just a link in this thread if he so wishes. If I'm wrong, will he please PM me and I will post an apology.

This Thread is about the Tudor Barn club, which is not directly connected with the aforementioned session - could we please keep it that way.

This thread seems to have lurched off track a touch, perhaps I could give it a nudge back on course. I visit Eltham frequently(my brother lives there) so I am interested to hear of a club. can someone tell me more? Is it a singaround only, or a club with guests? Who organises things? Etc etc

Myself and Linda (Essex Girl) live at Mottingham - just down the road from Eltham - let us know (PM me) the next time that you're coming down this way and we could try and meet up.

Our next folk barbecue (the thread for the last one ran over 100 postings) will be on Sunday 14th Sept - from about 2pm onwards. Why not schedule a trip down for then. We usually have a reasonable number of Mudcatters attending - be nice if you could make it as well.

BTW if you navigate from the FolkMob site to Dave Kenningham's and then to the one he's set up for me, you'll be able to see some of the BBQ pics. There are some more on the Mudcat Photos here.
