Subject: Folklore: Is it possible to find out? From: graywolf1980 Date: 20 Jun 03 - 05:45 PM Being a music fan, then becoming an historian for the county I live in, Winston County, Alabama, I've found things very interesting. A person by the name of Wash Mann in our area played the banjo, and my great grandfather gave dances on Saturday nights. Wash would come and play; Wash also went to Nashville, Tennessee in the mid-1930's and made a record. Is it possible to find this? I'm sure it would take a deal of work to track down, but where would one start? |

Wash Mann LP From: katlaughing Date: 20 Jun 03 - 06:25 PM I've just sent an email asking a friend who has thousands of old and obscure 78's and an encyclopedic memory to see if he knows of anything. Also, there are a lot of outfits online which sell old 78's. Might do a google search for them and start emailing or reading their lists.:-) Sounds very interesting. Good luck! |
Subject: RE: Is it possible to find out? Wash Mann LP From: Rapparee Date: 20 Jun 03 - 07:05 PM I did a search for "Wash Mann" and "Mann, Wash" as performer, author, subject, notes/comments on OCLC's World Cat (a listing of well over 6 million bibliographic records from around the world), limiting the search to sound recordings between 1925 and 1945. Nothing. Sorry. This doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. It means that it's not in OCLC's World Cat. Also, are you certain of the spelling of the name? Being a liberrian is good fer somethin. |
