My God! For a heart-stopping moment there, when I saw this thread title I thought that our "esteemed" Australian Treasurer, "Smarmy Pete" Costello, had written a song - and a D&M one at that!!!
Shoulda known better - a leopard doesn't change his spots.

Ooops - I had added Costello's name to the thread title to attract more answers, and then realized the song wasn't written by Costello and intended to remove it. I guess I didn't - until Rich-Joy caught me.
The general custom here seems to identify a song with the songwriter, not the performer.

Strange thing this sychronicity.
It's a song which I have liked for many years, but never got down to doing anything with. On Thursday, the day before this thread, I finally decided to get the words properly printed up to learn, with the intention of singing it out. It didn't take long to track down, but if I had waited a day You lot could have done the work for me instead!
