At a celtic session in Boston last night, someone handed me lyrics to 'My Donegal Shore' and asked me to sing it.

Does anyone have or know where I can get the music?

Thanks

Elaine, come to the singing session tonight at the Grand Canal on Canal St. between Haymarket & North Stations, A fella there Connie sings more Donegal songs (including that one) than anyone I've ever heard. If you don't make it & my memory is still intack I'll ask him about it. If it was last night, was it the session at the Greenbriar? If so Connie usually is present, only the material he does there isn't as traditional. Barry

Go into any tape shop that sells Irish, they're bound to a tape of someone doing it. I know that Daniel O'Donnell and Big Tom have both recorded it.

Barry,

Yes, it was given to me at the GreenBriar, by a fellow who got it last week from Connie (who wasn't there this week). I play celtic harp there Mondays.

Thanks for the invite. Didn't know about the singing at the Grand Canal. I'll try to go next week. What time and T stop (subway stop to non-Bostonians)?

Sharing it gladly, Here it is!

My Donegal Shore

O' I know it's not right reminiscing to-night,
Of days that are gone and returning no more,
For the girl I dream of, has another man's love.
Far, far away on a Donegal Shore.

But why should I care, if she's happy over there.
She may have children, she may be wealthy or poor,
But I can't help my dreams of what might have been,
If I stayed at home on my Donegal Shore.

(Chorus)

Now it's winter time here, all the trees will be bare,
And the rain clouds will darken my native Gweedore.
But if that girl I could hold, every rain drop would be gold,
Thay would fall all around us on my Donegal Shore.

Now there's no one to blame, but before she took his name
When she told me she loved him, it hurt to the core.
But I never could descend to be only her friend,
So I left her there on my Donegal Shore.

(Chorus)

Elaine, it get's going between 9 & 9:30. The T stop (I'm Boston born & bred) is North Station, it's puts you right on the corner of Canal St. Connie did say last night was the first he'd missed in sometime. A few others from the Greenbriar showed up too. Hope to see you. Barry

Elaine,

Have you had the music yet? Daniel O'Donnell sings this song in his album IRISH COLLECTION, Ritz Records, 1996, Wembley, UK.

Regards

Teru
