This Thursday night Dónal Maguire, a fine traditional singer, will do a house concert at Ferrara/Day home...he has been in New York this last week, and I suspect those who heard him would recommend not missing this if you are in the DC area.....read more here

Donal Maguire, who was last in the States about 20 years ago, will be at South Street Seaport Museum tomorrow (Tuesday, 15 July) for a concert with The New York Packet starting at 6 PM. He'll be at a session hosted by All-Ireland fiddle champ Brian Conway on Wednesday (16 July) at Dunne's Pub, Shapham Place, White Plains, NY starting at 7:30 PM.

Originally from Drogheda, was a student of the late Ewan MacColl. He is a fine mandolin and banjo player.

So, if you're near Washington or New York, you know where to go. I'll be with Donal in White Plains.

Very nice concert at South Street Seaport in NYC tonight. Should be really great in Washington. Understand Andy O'Brien of THe Irish Tradition will be going to the Ferrara/Day's.

Donal did a fine job last night. Great singing and very nice mandolin and guitar as well. I also, by chance, had an opportunity to have a chat and a pint with him and Bill Day at The Royal Mile in the afternoon, and we many laughs, a wonderful fellow really.

We hope he travels back this way soon.

'twas indeed a good day! The man is gregarious, generous, and a fount of wonderful songs and knowlege! (He said that he was favoring his voice due to excessive use..*grin*...but it sure filled the room just fine!)
We enjoyed his visit very much. He jokes that he has an offer to sing in N.Y again in 24 years...but I suspect that it won't be 'quite' that long, if certain people have their way.
