Subject: Recycling Old Folkies From: MC Fat Date: 05 Aug 03 - 11:17 AM I had to make a 'continuity announcement' from main stage at Warwick about the recycling bins. I commented that there was one for glass, one for paper, one for bottles and that next year we would have another one for recycled folkies i.e. put one Wilson in and get a Harriet Bartlett out. Any other ideas folks ? |

Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: GUEST,pdq Date: 07 Aug 03 - 02:09 PM It would be nice if more women folk singers looked like Cheryl Ladd and fewer looked like Bela Abzug. |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: jacqui c Date: 07 Aug 03 - 03:05 PM Feminist reaction!!!! Are you looking at the package or appreciating the music? And what about MALE folk singers. Is it mandatory to have a beer belly to be a folk singer? Rant over - but why is the wrapping so important??? |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: GUEST,pdq Date: 07 Aug 03 - 03:32 PM Just joking! A male folk singer without a beer belly is as rare as one with a full head of hair! |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: Les from Hull Date: 07 Aug 03 - 03:41 PM Plenty of hair and no beer belly here! 'Ang on, I must be doing something wrong... |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: John MacKenzie Date: 07 Aug 03 - 03:41 PM I could think of at least haf a dozen, that you could put in a rubbish bin, mix them up, and pull out......RUBBISH. Giok |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: jacqui c Date: 07 Aug 03 - 03:46 PM Les - are you sure you're a folkie? Must be a rare species. I only know a couple of good singers with hair and no belly! I think it's the fact that most gatherings take place in pubs...... |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: Kampervan Date: 07 Aug 03 - 05:02 PM If you re-cycle old folkies you get skool fields. Ahhhhhhh, that's where it all started. Behind the rifle range, (our school in Grimsby had an army cadet force). That's where I learnt about promiscuous osculation and ...... well, all those other nice things that you can never quite believe can ever happen, until you finally do them. That's what happens when you recycle old folkies. And yes, I do have a physical manifestation of all those pints of beer and bottles of wine that I've drunk, just as I have the skill and experience that's a legacy of all of those ladies who have been good enough to share their lives, likes and fantasies with me...... There ain't nothing wrong with an old folkie!!!!! At least, that's my excuse for not being able to see my toes. |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 07 Aug 03 - 05:13 PM Not all old folkies are fat- what about, "...a skinny oldtime from Ole Cheyenne...?" Only a Malcolm, or Masato, or Offer, etc. will know this reference!!! |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: GUEST,pdq Date: 07 Aug 03 - 07:56 PM With respect for Jean Ritchie, the good folk singers are in no need of recycling! |
Subject: RE: Recycling Old Folkies From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 08 Aug 03 - 05:24 PM Better to be recycled than to "just fade away............." |
