Subject: Help - 'Limbo' music

Our group has been asked to play for a Business Card Social presented by the local Chamber of Commerce. They're doing a Hawaiian theme for this after work wine and schmooze fest of businessmen. They want us to do some music so they can dance the Limbo.   And yes, I know it's not from Hawaii, but in the land of shining mountains and nervous sheep who's to know !?!

So, what can we play ? I've been looking over the words of Zombie Jamboree, but what is the basic beat of Limbo - 2/4 - 4/4 - ??
ANY ideas appreciated.

The standard Limbo Song is pretty much the same sort of tempo and feel as Zombie Jamboree. Frankly, by the time you've got to a point in a party when people are sufficiently rleaxed to do a limbo competition, they won't be noticing what(if anything) the band is playing.

When my old uncle (the tall tale teller) was a young lad, there were pay toilets in the public restrooms. He swore that he had invented this "DANCE" as a way to defeat the sytem in those bathrooms. As the music was played they would all do the Limbo to infiltrate under the toilet stall doors without being arrested for theft of service. It only cost a .05 piece to operate the lock back then, but I guess if you had to go a bunch those coins would add up.   ;-)

Yep Art - reminds me of the old piece of doggerel - "Here I sit all broken-hearted, paid a nickel, only farted!"

Greg - you were right. By the time the Limbo came around there weren't many of them, and, not counting the little kids, most of the adults were too stupored to bend much. It was over in a hurry.
