Subject: MY INLAWS MADE AN OUTLAW OUT OF ME From: ah827@rgfn.epcc.edu Date: 28 Jan 97 - 01:54 AM My inlaws made an outlaw out of me; They filled our married life with misery; .......fill in.... One night her pappy caught me on a spree; You're nothin' but a drunken bum says he; So with liquor on my breath; I nearly beat her pa to death; My inlaws made an outlaw out of me. This one may have also come from a movie soundtrack, but it did get quite a lot of airplay in the 50's.... Gene Messages from multiple threads combined. |

Subject: RE: LYR HELP: My Inlaws Made An Outlaw Out Of Me From: Felipa Date: 08 Feb 99 - 07:08 AM What counrty music web sites do you recommend for lyrics? I'm interested in words to a song about "one drink is one too many and one thousand's not enough". I heard it on the radio, and while the sound of the song didn't appeal to me, the sentiment fits too many of my friends and acquaintances. |
Subject: RE: LYR HELP: My Inlaws Made An Outlaw Out Of Me From: Joe Offer Date: 08 Feb 99 - 12:58 PM Hi, Felipa - http://www.roughstock.com/cowpie/ - Cowpie is the place for country lyrics. There's none better. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: LYR HELP: My Inlaws Made An Outlaw Out Of Me From: Felipa Date: 08 Feb 99 - 04:57 PM Thank you Joe, source of almost all knowledge. I saw that site once before and thought it was just for guitarists, but it DOES have a lyrics section. I searched and came up with a variety of other songs about alcohol, such as "Here I am Drunk Again" (Moe Bandy), "Drive me to Drink" (George Jones), Another Good Reason(not to drink)(Alan Jackson), which could be SEVEN BEERS WITH THE WRONG KIND OF MAN (Recorded by Bonnie Blue Eyes). But I didn't get the song I was looking for. Requests for other cowpatters to submit lyrics have to be done through the "Cowpie" magazine, so Cowpie isn't not half as handy a site as Mudcat.

Subject: RE: LYR HELP: My Inlaws Made An Outlaw Out Of Me From: Felipa Date: 08 Feb 99 - 05:01 PM Cowpie has a lot of songs about outlaws; I couldn't find any about in-laws |
Subject: RE: LYR HELP: My Inlaws Made An Outlaw Out Of Me From: Joe Offer Date: 09 Feb 99 - 02:51 AM By the way, Felipa, there are lots of fascinating songs to browse through at Cowpie. If you do a Cowpie search for Graham, you'll find our friend Gene Graham has posted hundreds of classics there. If a song was posted by Gene Graham, it's worth a look. I don't know how he finds 'em. You can bet he won't give up until he finds this Inlaw song. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: ADD: FERDI-LIZA From: Gene Date: 09 Feb 99 - 06:40 PM It is just ONE OF MANY old tunes running thru my fading memory...that I would like to find... I find several every year that I have been looking for...SOME FOR 30/40/50 years... LIKE FERDI-LIZA [?] While walking down the street one day I met a little feller When I asked him what his name was He began to beller My Pappy's name was Ferdinand My Mammy's name was Liza And so between the two of them They named me FERDI-LIZA Now FERDI-LIZA had so many Other little brothers He said they used up all the names While naming all the others Memory fades along in here.... |
Subject: RE: LYR HELP: My Inlaws Made An Outlaw Out Of Me From: Felipa Date: 10 Feb 99 - 07:16 AM I wrote to Cowpie about publishing song requests. I received the following reply quite quickly: Thanks for your interest in COWPIE. COWPIE is focused on guitar playing and the focus is required simply from a time standpoint. While we do accept submissions of lyric only in hopes that someone will add the chords or tab later, we don't deal with lyric requests. Lyric requests should be posted to the Usenet newsgroup rec.music.country.western. Usenet has a larger readership and most likely a quicker reply. (_____) Greg Vaughn !o o! COWPIE Editor ! ! Subject: Lyr Add: MY IN-LAWS MADE AN OUTLAW OUT OF ME From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 Nov 18 - 05:02 PM Here’s an altogether different song with almost the same title. The tune sounds very much like “Wreck of the Old 97” except that they’ve added a chorus. I found this on Spotify: MY IN-LAWS MADE AN OUTLAW OUT OF ME As recorded by Fly Amero on “Cracked Country Christmas” (2010) 1. Well, I was sleepin’ when my wife received a phone call from her mother In New Jersey on December twenty-two. She said: “We’re packin’ up the Lexus and we’re headin’ down to Texas For to spend a jolly holiday with you.” Now I don’t mean no disrespect, but when it comes to deep affec- tion for these people, I’m as shallow as can be. The woman always brings her dog; the old man gargles like a frog, And they both point out my ev’ry flaw with dignity. CHORUS: Here comes her mother; here comes her father. There goes my peace on earth and sanity. They’ve come to share another Christmas in my house and food and bus’ness. My in-laws made an outlaw out of me. 2. Right from the moment they arrived they both were skinnin’ me alive, And all the time that yappy dog was at my sleeve, But my frustrations never showed until they started to unload A million Christmas gifts for ev’ryone but me. Now at this point I’d like to make it clear that skippin’ school’s about as near As I’ve come to the wrong side of the law, But that all ended when my shotgun blast ricocheted off Mammy’s ass And picked them false teeth clean from Pappy’s jaw. CHORUS LAST CHORUS: Here comes a cruiser; I’ll be the loser, But at least I’ll have a toilet all to me. When they all get their gifts from Santy Claus, I’ll be locked up in jail because My in-laws made an outlaw out of me. Yeah, my in-laws made an outlaw out of me. Whoa, my in-laws made an outlaw out of me. |
