Hmmmm. I wonder what I can find:
See also the crosslinks at the top of the page. I don't think we have "I'm Gettin Nuttin for Christmas," but it should be easy to find. I thought we had St. George and the Dragonet, but I guess not. It was a #1 hit for a month in 1953. was five at the time, but I remember it. Gee, that makes me feel old...
This article says the 1953 "George" was the first of several "George" recordings. Maybe I remember a later one, and I'm NOT that old...
You'll find a brief discography here (click).
In general, I'm reluctant to just post a bunch of songs from any particular performer. There are fan sites that do that, but our emphasis is on traditional music - not to be a dump for lyrics from various songwriters and performers. When you do that, then the copyright cops may have good reason to go after you. If somebody requests a specific song, then that's another matter.

One I didn't find at Sorcha's site was "Baa Baa Black Sheep" which I believe he did with Daws Butler, about the McCarthy hearings of the late 40's.

If memory serves, and 50 year old memories often don't, the lyrics resembled a congressional inquiry/persecution of a black sheep with suspected communist tendencies, interspersed with interludes from "March of the Gladiators", a tune specifically associated with circuses, especially clowns, in the USA.

Lonnie Donegan was,I believe, quoted as saying Rock Island Line by Freberg was his favourite record.

Iwas a clever satirical parody of the original.
I liked the presentation and style.
The Freberg team could sing well.

I love Stan Freberg, but he wasn't a musician. He did some parodies, but mostly he was a comedian - first on radio, then in commercials. Spotting a Stan Freberg ad was always interesting. Here's how he sold hotdogs. Who remembers "How do they get 8 great tomatoes in that little bitty can?"
The radio shows are here.
Most of his recordings are still available commercially.

Stan Freberg commercial for Accent, to the tune of Give My Regards to Broadway:

Give my regards to broccoli/Remeber me to herald squash/Tell all the beets and cauliflower/From Manhattan to Oshkosh/Tell them of how I'm yearning/To mingle on the kitchen range/If they were cooked with Accent/Maybe folks would eat them for a change.

(lyrics from memory, not entirely reliable)

Does anyone remember the other Freberg Accent commercial, "Pour on the Accent, it brings the flavor out" set to "Stars & Stripes Forever?" I believe the second line was, "on leg of lamb, or roast, or weenie, chicken-ala-king or scaloppine." I would love to find the complete lyrics (or better yet, the recordings) of either or both of these commercials. The man is pure genius.

Stan Freberg is still alive. You could contact him and ask about the words to the song.

Kurt, I found

A leg of lamb a roasted wienie

Chicken ala king or scallopini

You can make a meatball taste the way it never did before...

And oh, what dash it brings to hash, or even a halibut, even a halibut...

Who'd believe the flavor it brings out in a brisket of beef?

Once you sprinkle it on filet mignon, ever after you'll be grateful you used

ACCENT!

at http://www.inthe00s.com/archive/Before70s/smf/1253206105.shtml (but does that really fit Stars and Stripes Forever?).

I think there's more. . .

You think you are seasoning your food,
When you pour on the salt and the pepper.
But check with the chefs of the world,
And they will tell you which end is up.

Believe me they don't mess around,
. . . . .. . .         ??
You too can make dinner a smash,
When all your vegetables and meats are cooked with Accent.

I, too, could not catch all the lyrics. Of what I remembered it went:
Pour on on the Accent and bring the flavor out
A leg of lamb, a roast, a weenie, chicken a la a king or scallopini
You can make a meatloaf taste a way it never did before
Oh boy, what class it brings to bass or even a halibut, even a halibut
Who'd believe the flavor it brings out in a brisket of beef
Cooks pour on..........
The refrain went:
You think you are seasoning your food
When you pour on the salt and the pepper
But check with the chefs of the world and
They will tell you the jig is up
Believe me they don't fool around ............
You too can make dinner a smash
You'll be forever grateful that you used new Accent!

There are, allegedly, five Freberg food commercials at http://www.villagevoice.com/restaurants/5-funniest-tv-food-commercials-of-stan-freberg-6508608 but the site loads so slowly I got tired of waiting and gave up.

Hrothgar, The Ballad of Harry Lewis is Allan Sherman's work, not Stan Freberg's.
