Val, what are the predictions for the tides this year? Shanty singers don't like actual contact with the sea, you know!

All bodes well, guest - after a couple of scary years, when we had to have an FCP (Flood Contingency Plan!) there aren't any particularly high tides this Easter.

For the uninitiated - if tides are particularly high, combined with heavy rain in the previous days and wind from the right/wrong direction, several of the venues used for the Festival can, shall we say, join in with the mood of the weekend -i.e. get very wet!

Roll up, roll up - step this way to the world's biggest gathering of sea-song and shanty singers....

Sort of thing.

I've just moved into the Lancaster area and have heard of this - I like folk but don't know much about sea songs and shanties. Can anyone tell me what to expect? There are quite a few names on the guest list I recognise. Does it come recommended?

Highly recommended, Joanne. Just watch out for being kidnapped by the press gang or snogged by men with black faces... It's a bugger to wash off:-)

Cheers
