I know them very well. Arthur Howard has been quite ill lately and sadly Fran died some years ago,but they're still doing their thing. Arthur lives in Dukinfield now and you could find out his next gig by visiting St Peter's RC church in Stalybridge where Arthur attends regularly. Don't want to give out personal numbers online.

Three Crows at the Junction. What nights they were! Every Wednesday in the aerly 70's we used to travel up from Glossop for a night of good beer (Robbies of course)n song. Nostaglia probably tints the reality but memories recall an evening of gentle innocent pleasures. Many a time we'd end up 'walking' back to Glossop having spent our bus fair on a final drink. Somewhere in the attic I have 2 or 3 of the recordings made live in the Junction. When I get back home I must search them out and then find something to play them on.
So, for old times sake lets hear one more rendition of '3 Ashton Mashers'

I have just found a tape I bought about 18 years ago The Three Crows Still Going what great memories of watching them live. I saw them twice and they sound as good live as on tape. Very sorry to hear of Franny's passing, he and the other crows brought so much enjoyment to so many if only we could all say that.
If anyone knows when and where they will next be performing that would be great.

I have been tryng to get the the three crows music on cd for as long as I can remember (Way too long) Used to have a tape but it went the way of most tapes and was detroyed by a hungry tape player.

To anyone who wants a 3 Crows update. They are still going as The Crows but sometimes as The 3 Crows still! I'm happy to say one of the group, John, is a friend of mine. Fran did die a few years ago which, of course, affected the remaining 2 Crows, but - they are still together and have other musicians/singers for concerts.

They are due to sing at Belper, Derbyshire on July 4th and also in Glossop on (I think) July 10th

I'm a scout leader with 1st Hazel Grove Scout Group. For many years The Three Crows performed for us every year. These nights for always long awaited and we where never disapointed. It was so sad to here of Frannys untimley death. What a great man. I think we where the last performance Franny ever did(Marple Squash Club?) We all so miss the Crows very much not just because of the fundraising(always a sell out) but because of such a great night out. I've stumbled by chance on this web site and didn't know they where back playing. Whould love to hear them again and even better for them to come over to Sunny Hazel Grove to play for Scout Group and all the peaople who so miss them. Can any help me get in contact again. in the 80's I lived in Hadfield and regularly went to see the Three Crows. My ex boyfriend pinched the only tape I had of their music so I have heard none of their music since then. I now live in Kenya and am yearning for a dose of decent english folk. Can any tell me how and where to get hold of the CDs that some of you have mentioned?

I will be back in the UK briefly in November so can sort out money and delivery etc then.

I am one of Franks Son. He passed away in 1999.

It took The 'Crows a while to play again after his death, but they are playing again now. Generally it is only Charity events and such that they do, but they do sound as good as ever.

There are numerous albums going around, some even been put on to CD now!!!!!!

It is heartening to know that there is still such a strong following for them

The Three Crows performed at duckilfield Town Hall on Saturday 2nd Feb 08. Unfortunately FRank Delaney is no more, but there are now 5 Crows plus bass. Arthur and John, original members are stll going strong. Think they are back at the Town Hall in October.

We, my wife, Mave and I, saw the Three Crows at a school in Stalybridge in the 70's, possibly St. Damian's and they were great. Their harmony, comedy and rapport with the audience was superb.
We also saw them at the Park Bridge Visitor Centre at Bardsley in Ashton at a folk meeting.

By the way their first album was 'The Three Crows' at the Junction The second one was 'Inn Song'(never was much good at puns was old Arthur) recorded live from The Junction with Arthur Fran and John.

Malcom Price was a lovely guy who with his wife Carol and Mick North played the Folk Music circuit during the 1960's and further.I knew Malcom well in those days and recorded him doing the Long Black Veil on a very rare compiliation album Folk Scene (FSP 001)(1966. rare, because only 500 were produced. I and a partner published a magazine called Folk Scene, which sadly folded after 18 monthly issues and Malcolm was featured in a couple of them. He did come from Kent and was a former grave digger. I remember the 3 Crows but didn't know them. Of Tickawinda, I knew Alison but didn't know that Clive Gregson was a member. The last I heard of Clive was that hed moved to Nashville.

Chris Swann - demon designer of pinball and other gaming machines - joined Cheryl Gibbons and her then partner Rob ? to form Sunwheel. Shortly after a failed single about Red Rum, Rob and Cheryl moved away with Rob's job to Nottingham although they commuted back to run the Sat Night sessions at Stalybridge Station. Unfortunately they didn't survive the next move to London and then Epsom and they split up shortly afterwards. I heard that Cheryl was working at the Kings Head in Islington but that was years ago.

Haven't seen any of them in years including Pete Astles and Ken Campbell - Ken used to book the acts for us back in the 70's when we ran a large Cheshire folk club in competition with the one at Poynton. I have a pile of "rare" folk records perhaps Chris could point me at a site which lists their values.

Wasn't the "Berwers" run for a time by Tony and Arthur? Arthur lives in Bollington and still intends to be famous one day - he is currently the Mayor's Consort. Tony died in a climbing accidentnearly 30 years ago.

Any more names??

After the success of a reunion concert last April at the Pulling Strings for Christies event in New Mills, the Pennine Folk are hopefully doing a concert at the old venue.The proposed date is the 4th December 2006.

There is a DVD of the event available of the reunion concert if anyone is interested with the proceeds going to charity. The line up on the night was Ken Campbell,Frank Clapton,Lynton Macconnell,Margaret Whitehead,Cris Swann and myself Pete Bowler.

Chris Swann was a member of Sunwheel. If anyone wants any info on them,I can supply.

Hi, I am a collector and seller of Rare Folk Records. I have a copy of The Three Crows LP which I am about to list for sale on ebay - one side is live and the other is in the studio. I know nothing else about this record - I had never come across it before.
Just out of interest I can tell you that the aforementioned 'Tickawinda' LP is worth a cool £300!!

The Three Crows performed in a number of schools in the evening. They were teachers themselves. Arthur Howard was the lead singer and tamborine, Fran Delaney sang and played mandolin and guitar, John Vale also sang now and again and played a twelve string guitar. They did an LP called "THE THREE CROWS AT THE JUNCTION", I believe they also did "THE THREE CROWS LIVE AT THE JUNCTION" as well but cannot confirm the title. They also produced a tape called "THE THREE CROWS - 25 YEARS ON". I would like to know if they recorded anything else, perhaps someone out there might know. I saw them quite a number of times, and only wish there was some film or video of their performaces which as well as good songs were filled with Lancashire humour. Fran Delaney died a couple of years ago, and I have heard though not confirmed, that Arthur has since died fairly recently. I would be interested to hear from anyone with more up to date info. I know what you mean though. Everytime I pull a record out to
look at it I see the date on it and think to myself it only seems
like a couple of years since I bought it, it usually has 1965 or '70
on it by the way. Don't time fly when your having fun?

I don't post a great deal, but I lurk a lot and soak up the great amount of knowledge that abounds on the 'cat, and I try to help
where possible with the paltry bits of information that I posess.
