Hi

Has anyone have the lyrics for the second verse of the Riley Puckett version of Come Be My Rainbow? He does not sing this version for the second verse and I cannot find any information. I have listened carefully (English is not my first language) I do not understand much of what he sings ...

Thank you a thousand times if you can help me.

Martin

(back from lunch) No, not to disagree too heavily with you, Sorcha ~~ especially after my fiasco with the MP3 file! ~~ but at least in Netscape, linking to the cover works fine. Right under the cover is the link to the next (first) page of the music, and continuing to click on the bottom link will eventually get you to all the pages. Besides, skipping the cover page means you'll miss some great art work at times.

RAINBOW
(Words by Alfred Bryan, Music by Percy Wenrich, ©1908)

When the rain was softly falling in a forest glade
Beyond the prairies far away,
Beneath a palm tree, so they say,
There stood an Indian chief one day.
There he spied a pretty maiden of a copper shade,
And as he gazed she drooped her head
To hide her cheek with blushes red
While these sweet words he said:

CHORUS: Come be my Rainbow,
my pretty Rainbow.
my heart beguile.
Give me a smile,
once in a while.
In rain or sunshine, my Rainbow,
keep your love light aglow.
I love you so,
my sweet Rainbow.

Then the rainbow shone out smiling from the summer sky,
And when she saw this sign she sighed:
"Now can't you see it's fate?" he cried.
"Come love and be my happy bride."
Brighter than the rainbow beamed the love-light in her eye
And as they wandered home that night,
Beneath the moonbeams silvery light
Oft he sang with delight: CHORUS

This should do it....Rainbow at Levy Scroll to bottom and click the pages.....Dale, at Levy you have to link to the first page of the music...not the cover.

WELL, this is exasperating. Looks like they have put up safeguards against direct links.

OK, HOME PAGE!   Click on Audio, then search for Rainbow. I'm going to lunch, so I'm done. ~~ Excellent site, though. Look around while you are there.

This was easiest. It is the second song on the link. Click the Discographic information link, or cut straight to the MP3.

Billy Murray & The Hayden Quartet

Here ya go. Photo of label, info on Harry MacDonough (Hayden Quartet member), Real Audio and MP3, courtesy of The Virtual Gramophone, Canadian Historical Sound Recordings. What more could a person ask for?

Rainbow at Levy Start here, links to the rest of the pages at the bottom of the page.

Words by Alfred Bryan. Music by Percy Wenrich, 1908

I've got several recordings, can't think of what all they are at the moment.

I wish I had them for you; this is a nice tune. You may find it on some old Grandpa Jones album, because I remember him singing it.

I'm looking for the lyrics to a great tune done by the Scottdale String Band. I don't know if there is any sheet music for it. I believe Riley Puckett sang it, though.

Thanks,
-Greg
