Subject: RE: need song lyrics real bad!!!!!! From: rich r Date: 16 Sep 98 - 07:15 PM Roger, You must have been having a real gabfest. I had to go upstairs to find the cassete, which proved to be down here in another room, Then I had to find my glasses and turn on lots of lights so I could read the tiny print on the cassette insert and finally slowly type it in. Just so's you don't get to feelin' too down, I'll hunt for the parody version of Old Love. rich r |
Subject: Lyr Add: HARD SHOVE (parody of OLD LOVE) From: rich r Date: 20 Sep 98 - 01:40 PM "Hard Love" parody. It is football season and several years ago Dale Connelly host of the Morning Program on Minnesota Public Radio decided that there was a need for a kinder and gentler football fight song , so he wrote these words. Neall & Leandra sang them live on the show. HARD SHOVE
Give them a hard shove,
You can't say we're happy campers,
Give them a hard shove,

Subject: Lyr Add: MOLD LOVE (parody from Neal & Leandra) From: Jim Dixon Date: 04 Nov 07 - 05:17 PM Neal and Leandra also sang this self-parody on Minnesota Public Radio's morning show. The web site doesn't say who wrote the parody; maybe it was Neal & Leandra themselves, or maybe it was the Morning Show's hosts, Dale Connelly and Jim Ed Poole (pseudonym of Tom Keith). The song was first sung as part of a comedy sketch wherein Poole/Keith plays psychologist B. Marty Berry (apparently a parody of T. Barry Brazelton with elements of Stuart Smalley) and urges Neal & Leandra to be more truthful. To hear the complete sketch, go to this page and then click "Listen." MOLD LOVE We're singing OLD LOVE. Can you tell it's getting old, Love? Something we have heard enough of Gets requested ev'ry day. We still sing it 'cause we have to. You can't hate it more than we do. Like a jukebox that's left playing, We still sing it anyway. [NEAL:] Here I let my mind go wand'ring. I'm so bored and uninvolved. The creative juice I'm squand'ring. Even chimpanzees evolved. I can feel my brain dissolving. Hard to think this once was new. It only seems to take a lifetime. I need a nap. How 'bout you? [BOTH:] We've got an old love, The longest story ever told, Love, A silver hair among the gold, Love, So we put it on display. People think we must be happy, 'Cause we sing a song this sappy, But we're just grateful to be paying All the bills that OLD LOVE pays. [NEAL:] I'm getting lumpy as a pillow. I'm feeling crusty as a pie. The first ten thousand times I sang it, I was still a youthful guy. Now I'm turning gray and frazzled. And my chin sags like a tarp; But in spite of losing hair, I'm so glad that we're a pair, Both old enough for AARP [pronounced "arp"]. [BOTH:] We're looking old, Love, Less a pixie, more a troll, Love. Lost my navel in a fold, Love. Didn't need it anyway. And when I hear you say, "I love you," Feel more grateful than I used to. Like mold, love grows as we're decaying. It just gets bigger every day. Like mold, love grows as we're decaying. It just gets bigger every day. |
