a late post, as I've just arrived home from the finalé at The Windsor Hotel in Pontyclun (pont-uh-clean).

At varying times in the evening, between 15-20 people there for the end of this year's Miskin Folk Fest. Much singing & drinking. I sang the song I wrote after Miskin 2003, and found that I was joined by a singer with a copy. (I'd never sung it before! I assumed I'd got the scansion right, but was open to correction!)

Finished in The Windsor @ 'stop tap' at about 23:30.

Home in Cornwall at last! I never thought I was going to get through today! Should have gone to bed earlier last night! Thank you to Andy, Jilly, and Co for the Phenomenal effort you put into such a fantastically friendly festival - the ONLY one that our kids eyes light up about, when we say we are going to a festival. Great company, great singing & music - and the food was pretty good too!!! Well done bar & kitchen staff! Likewise, Dave, it was almost a Mudact meet - great to see so many catters and put faces to names, and thanks for the badge! What a talented lot you 'catters are! I look forward to meeting and chorusing with you all again and hope you all got home safely. I'm off to put me twisty bits of corn away and get some SLEEP!!!!

Linda and I had a wonderful time at Miskin - thank you Andy and all your helpers for making it one of the best festivals that we have ever been to. It was great to be able to put faces to many catters who have hitherto been only names as well as meeting up with many that we already know.

Even the outbreak of a serious epidemic of the Bongs last night (I think it might have been something to do with the beer - we had to try and finish it all off) did nothing to damp our spirits.

We definitely want to be back next year - must remember to bring some anti-bong medication though.

Home again... Steve went to Dartmouth to be a sail-i-or again, and I came up to Bishop's Castle by train. (Well Ludlow actually) I've not been to Miskin before and I'd just like to say I shall make it routine for Easter from now on. Thanks to the kitchen and bar staff for their wonderful effort.

Late Sunday night (early Monday morning?) someone performed a parody of The Three Bells which had "little Jimmy Brown" stealing the lead off the chapel roof.

An unfortunate side effect of this was that many later songs acquired a chorus of "Bong bong bong bong!"

But a great evening!

Anyone got the parody lyrics to add to the above mentioned thread?

I echo your sentiments Chris, about having to leave early too. This was the first time we'd managed to stay overnight and it makes more difference than I would have believed. I just got the forecast for the w/e and except tonight its looking good.Thursday=max 10-min -4,Friday=max 13 sunny min 5,Saturday=max 11 showers min 3,Sunday=max 12 cloudy but sunny min 3 and Monday= max 13 cloudy but sunny min 2.So i would say its looking good for a great w/e for the campers.

Charley: as far the name of the village goes, at school (Pontyclun Primary) we were always told it was a corruption of Maes Gwyn (fields white). Why (if?) the authorities have decided to put up a sign post with something else on they presumably have a reason.... perhaps they can't spell!

Well Chris, if the tent Ted and I have borrowed to save us having to take an hour to put up our aged frame tent is no good (and up to now it's got no pegs, no guy ropes and at least one split pole!) we may be joining you!
