Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Sammy Dirt From: rodentred Date: 07 Jan 04 - 06:38 PM We are all talking about the same song here. Please someone must have the rest of the words. Other bits I can remember are : in the prison bit at the end ..... No-one thought of counting the chalk marks on the wall So may be he's in heaven upon the seats of angels or maybe he's in hell at the Devil's beck and call. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Sammy Dirt? / Johnny Dirt From: GUEST,JimW Date: 26 Jun 12 - 05:09 PM The bit I remember goes: Little Jimmy dirt, he loved to wear a skirt. Loved to put on makeup and powder on his nose. 'When I'm a man I want to be a woman, wearing frilly panties, corsets, bras and bows' Written by the guy who used to run the student folk club in Cambridge in my youth. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Sammy Dirt? / Johnny Dirt From: GUEST,GuestSG Date: 27 Jun 12 - 07:52 AM As I remember it the club was in "The Little Rose", Rose Crescent, Cambridge and met on Wednesday Evenings during the early/mid seventies. I seem to think that the first verse went something like "Little Jimmy Dirt, he loved to wear a skirt, always hated trousers, was as gentle as a lamb, loved the sky at sunset, the lovely sky at sunset, loved to play all day with his dolly and his pram." I had the full version, now lost of course, written out for me by the singer who composed it and who was indeed involved in running the club. Unfortunately, like the rest of the words of the song, his name escapes me; far too many shandies have passed my lips in the meantime, so my memory is certainly not what it was. |
