I'm looking for the lyrics to a song I heard a couple of Dear Hubby's uncles sing the other night at an very impromptu family bluegrass 'jam' down near Five Points, Texas (that's within spitting distance of Waxahachie).

Uncle Billy Jo and Uncle Wendell are in their 70's, and have been playing bluegrass for about 60 years, so this song could be from any period. It's in waltz time, and the chorus goes something like this:

My heart, my hands,
My lips, my arms,
We missed you, all the time
You were gone
My heart, my hands,
My lips, my arms,
We missed you, and we're glad
You've come home

Like the fantastic musicians they are, they know so many songs and tunes that they can't remember the names of them all -- but, they can play the heck out of 'em in any key -- So, I hope some good Mudcatter can come up with the words to this one.

Dear Hubby and I are going to get together again with the family in about a month to play again, and I'd love to be able to do this song with Wendell and Billy Jo.

All the best, Áine

Aine, looks like your best bet is to call one of them on the phone and write them down. I found zip. Sorry.

Thanks for trying, dear Sorcha ;-)

I may have to do just that; but, I wanted it to be a surprise. So, I'm hoping someone may still be able to help.

All the best, Áine

OK, I'm still looking for this song, and I'm still holding out hope that one of you 'Catters can help me -- See what compleat (!) faith I have in y'all? ;-)

Hey Dead Horse, that resource link really is great. I've found a bunch of songs I want to learn -- maybe one or two that Uncle Billy Jo and Wendell don't know (but, I doubt it!) ;-)

All the best, Áine

Well, it's been a year now, and I still haven't been able to find this song. Saw Uncle Billy Jo a few months ago; but, I forgot to ask him (it was at a funeral).

So, I thought I'd refresh this thread just in case the lyrics cause any jangles in anyone's head this time around. ;-)

All the best, Áine
