Is there such a thing as a device that makes a sound like a cricket chirping? I'm learning a new song, "Seeing Nellie Home," that seems to call for it.

You might look for the book , "The Very Quiet Cricket" by Eric Carle. It has a cricket sound in it that might work for you......KT

You could try one of those articles which I know as a Fish". A small sound box with a ribbed strip on one side, along which you lightly rub a stick or rod. Sounds kind of cricket-like with a moderate suspension of disbelief.

You could try here

Thanks. The cricket thing from Kindermusik might work.

Nickb, if you get a cricket sound when you rub your legs together, I think you need to moisturize your dry skin before it's too late.

Reminds me of nights I used to go chasing corncrakes (don't ask!). We cut a sawtooth effect along a beef rib bone, then scraped another bone across it, cupping the hand to get the sound to match the birds call. Worked a treat!

Regards
