This definitely calls for a trip to the public library to browse through the selections and choose what appeals to you.

Ruth Seeger has one. It's out of print, but here is the basic info:

    Seeger, Ruth Crawford
    American Folk Songs for Children
NY, Doubleday, 1948, Illustrated by Cooney, Barbara. ND. 190 pages. Indexed. 8vo. Spiral bound paper covers. Condition: Very Good.

Also listed this way (probably the same book):
    Seeger, Ruth Crawford
American Folk Songs for Children in Home, School and Nursery School
    N.Y.: Doubleday, 1948. Oversize Hardcover

If you do a search at ABE Books you'll find many copies. It came with a cassette recording also, when a copy was given to my kids.

You'll see by my cut and paste that my first line should read "Ruth Seeger" had a book, but as you'll see on that other thread, the book still comes up if you search on Peggy because she and her brother Mike recorded the songs. Those are what came on the cassette.
