Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Hollowfox Date: 29 Jan 04 - 05:26 PM Jeez, I leave for a couple of days and everything goes! (Where am I and what am I doing in this handbasket?) Anyway, you know you've got my good thoughts and prayers right now, and one of those infamous @$#%-reduction candles when I get home from work tonight. Remember, talcum powder is your friend. |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Tig Date: 29 Jan 04 - 05:27 PM At least you didn't end up hanging around for months waiting for the test! If it shows any probs they will be right on top of them - as they were with Magician in October. He's well on the mend now. Take care. Lots of love and hugs, Tig xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Alaska Mike Date: 29 Jan 04 - 05:50 PM Them doctors are pulling your "naughty parts", Kendall, you don't need to be opened up. Everyone on Mudcat knows that your heart is quite visible from the outside. By the way, I failed a stress test once myself. Who did YOU punch in the nose? Hope you are quickly back to your natural state, Salty Curmudgeon. Best wishes, Mike |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:03 PM Relax Kendall......It's a heart catheterization and it doesn't hurt in the least. The worst part is when they do the cutdown and that's no worse than a bee sting. Partially blocked arteries are not a problem either. About 4 out of 5 times they can be fixed immediately with a couple of different types of angioplasty which is just like the cath and also painless. Some docs will do them right then. After a cath is over, you have to lay on your back and remain still for 3-6 hours so they can be sure you won't bleed out....it is the femoral artery and it joins the aorta directly. That part drives me crazy, I can't stand the laying still bit!! BTW, they are taking pressures, not pictures generally. For pix they are big on echocardiograms, also not a big deal, just a sonagram really. Now if they tell you they want to do a TEE (trans-esophageal Echocardiogram) then run like hell. They will catch you and shove a tube down your throat ..... That one really sucks!!
I have had 9 or 10 of the damn things.....You'll be fine Bro....Relax. |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Tinker Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:06 PM Dang !! I go off running errands and checking out Dojos for the afternoon and look at what I find here. Naughty bits, purple grapes... mught be another one of "those" songs here somewhere. Maybe a new version of the Hot Nuts song just for you....BG... Anyway, lots of postive "stuff" heading out your way. Hugs and Kissses Tinker |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: SINSULL Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:12 PM I just spoke to Kendall. He was eating his first meal of the day and ordering three meals for tomorrow. Homeless got it. This is what the Captain does when he gets tossed out of the Poor Mary thread. Had to one up me. Triple by-pass tomorrow. Kendall will be fine, in fact, better than fine when it's over. The rest of us will have a few more grey hairs. So fire up the candles and prayers. Mary |

Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: bigchuck Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:46 PM Gawd, that's a bummer Kendall. I had a stress test last week, (and many others too)and it is stressful. Fortunately, mine was fine. I suspect that you'll come through the bypass just fine and probably will feel better than you did before. I dunno if the world can withstand a more energetic Kendall, but I look forward to seeing the effect. All my best thoughts are with you. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Annie Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:48 PM Kendall, you're gonna be fine after they get enough blood to that big heart of yours. Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Deckman Date: 29 Jan 04 - 06:48 PM WEE WOW !!!! What news. But this is a very familiar story: Don't feel right - treadmill test - two minutes and STOP the test - check into the hospital - surgery tomorrow. While it's a scary thought, heart surgery, they really have it down. Believe me, I know, as both Bride Judy and I went through this 6 years ago. There is a VERY fortunate thing here in that they caught it, apparently in time. There's a message here for all of us! CHEERS, Bob |

Lookie hyar, this stress business is just pre-trip excitement, so let's not let anyone talk you out of your usual laconic cynicism -- it's what we love best about you, you auld fart!! Ok, bring her back on course, now, and stop waking up the crew like that!! LOL!!! Love ya, A |

Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Tinker Date: 29 Jan 04 - 09:12 PM Well, folks I just talked to Mary who told me tha Captain's spirits are good. The nurses are giggling, sitting down to read him the menus, and listenin' to his tales (lucky ladies)...he has everything well in hand. I've got address information if anyone wants to PM me. SINS promises to keep us all posted and has moved Seamus in with her and the kitties for the duration. Keep the good vibes comin' folks... Tinker |

Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Sandy Paton Date: 29 Jan 04 - 10:37 PM Well, Kendall. I'll admit I hurt for awhile after my bypass, but I only had to laze around for a couple of weeks, so you ought to be able to go dashing off to the UK right on schedule. Think of old Studs Turkle, Kendall. He survived a quintuple (one up on than me and two up on you) and he was in his eighties, for Pete's sake. Now he's in his nineties and still raising holy hell with all the Ashcrofts, Cheneys, Rumsfelds, and their bloody ilk. Caroline and I will be thinking of you, old buddy, and doing what amounts to praying in our secularism. Glad Sinsull is there to keep us posted and take care of Seamus while those nurses are enjoying your company. You'll do fine, friend. We're sure of it. Sandy (the other Sandy, that is) |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: JedMarum Date: 29 Jan 04 - 10:37 PM ... come to think of it, I don;t suppose they'd have to be very large JPG files! ;-) |

Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: karen k Date: 30 Jan 04 - 12:12 AM Kendall, My thoughts are with you. Mend quickly. I don't want to have to tell you about England. I want to be able to swap stories after you get back. I've known lots of people who have had by-passes and all were very successful. So, I'm thinking nothing less for you my friend. Hey, Sins, make sure to let us know how he's doing and would you PM me his address, please. Kendall, be well. I'll be thinking of you. love ya, k |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: MAG Date: 30 Jan 04 - 12:26 AM My uncle has had a couple of them there things and is hale and hearty in his late 80's. An ex had a quintuple and was back to his usual routine in less than a month. You'll be fine. Kick ass over there in the U.K. |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: GUEST,KENDALL Date: 30 Jan 04 - 12:35 AM Well folks, so far, the worst part of it is the 6 hourse flat on my arse unable to move for fear of a blowout. The crew here is unbeatable. My oldest doughter used to work in the Cath lab, and one of my nieces stills works here, so I'm getting the star treatment. (A midnight snack, no less) The doctor told me I must have a triple by pass, and he can't do it until Monday. So, as Tome T Hall wrote, Here I am in this this dang bed and who'd gonna feed them hogs. They wont let me go home and come back because I could have a fatal attack. I live alone, and my dog would me no use at all, so, I'm stuck here. I'm in room 721 of the Maine Medical center in Portland Maine. Visitors allowed, but, no Guinness! You are all great, and I will be in England in April, but I hope it's via the high road nit the low road. I'll be checking in from time to time on their computer in the Solarium. Can't send PMs though. |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: MAG Date: 30 Jan 04 - 12:47 AM My Dad -- a man from Maine -- insisted on driving home to New Jersey from South Carolina during and after a TIA (minor stroke) -- he then drove himself to the hospital where they put in a stent (little thing that props an artery open). He was very surpprised to walk out of the hospital and discover that family was there to drive him home. He later decided that the stent surgery must have "caused" the stroke and constantly bitches about the residual slur he has. Men from Maine! Mother's favorite saying: You can tell a man from Maine -- but you can't tell him much. Are you one of them ornery kind, Kendall? |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Jan 04 - 01:07 AM Kendall, Mudcat to the rescue! Check out this goofy thread on shaving (in your case, recovering from the stubble) and for more highbrow pursuits, here are some good books to read. Here's to you--sending good wishes for the best care and recovery. SRS |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: SueB Date: 30 Jan 04 - 01:25 AM It's just amazing what doctors can do these days. We'll all be looking forward to hearing how great you're doing on Monday afternoon - Sending lots of warm positive thoughts in your direction - Suzanne |

Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Kaleea Date: 30 Jan 04 - 02:17 AM Good golly miss molly, I turn my head for a few hours & you get tossed in the sack wif a foley up yer, well, uh. . . You know. Only a triple? You can do that while fanger pickin' the ol' geetar with one hand tied behind your sedated self. We all know that you'll be up chasing the nurses around the bed in no time! Jeepers, if I wasn't so far away in Kansas, I'd bring you a case of Guiness and . . .well, I better not say with all these folks looking on. Suffice it to say: My Goodness, My Guiness! Guinness--sure, and it's Gaelic for genius! ( . . .as the geezer Kaleea sips on her sparkling calorie free naturally flavored not-so-naturally sweetened not-exactly-spring water, knowing that she's too foo foo to drink a pint of stout nowadays.) But seriously, I am sending you lots of very positive thoughts & energy! You are basking in the healing light of the Almighty! And the terrific energies being sent from all directions by all them thar 'Caters! |
Subject: RE: Kendall in hospital From: Peace Date: 30 Jan 04 - 02:25 AM Kendall, I have just returned from marking Provincial exams and I am dismayed at this news. I pray, and I will do so for you. Please, get well. I notice a few wags have had a go, so I hope you'll pardon me if I do, too. I expect by tomorrow morning you'll take a turn for the nurse. Be good, buddy. I'll be thinking of you (along with the whole crew on the Mudcat). Bruce Murdoch |
