One of the most influential fiddlers of his generation, Bruce Molsky is also a remarkable guitarist, banjoist and singer. Woo-Hoo!! I'm roadying for the Gathering tour(qv)with Debby McClatchy and Tom, Brad And Alice and yesterday while travelling from London to Selby, we got a phone call from Bruce, who arranged to book into our hotel and join us at the gig. He did a couple of tunes on stage, and at the pub afterwards we had a GREAT session. If you get a chance to see this guy - DO IT! don't miss a superb performer.

I saw Bruce in Honolulu earlier this month with Fiddlers 4, a "string quartet" with Bruce, Darol Anger, Michael Doucet, and an impressive young musician named Rashad Eggleston who plays what Darol called "a strange new instrument that bears a strong resemblance to a cello." They were absolutely wonderful, and I'd highly recommend going to see them if you have the chance.

Bruce was the leader of my band lab at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in 1989, and he taught me how to play music with people for the first time (in my case, backup guitar for old-time fiddle tunes). He was great then and has gotten even better. Check out his CD, "Lost Boy."

Rushad is pure genius on the "strange new instrument...."! He's taking the cello in new directions, and is just flat out a great musician. (BTW, "Rushad" is the proper spelling of his name)

Saw Bruce at Irvine on 3rd March. He was not known to many at the club but all the comments afterwards were very positive. A very talented performer. Those who didn't take the chance to seee him were the losers.
In addition to his musical talents he knows a good whisky - particularly Lagavulin ( a single malt from Islay).

I spoke to him after the gig and he didn't know of this site or thread. Bruce if youv'e found it now - Hi and hope to see you back in Scotland.
