Driving a big PA rig for four metal bands, RAF hall, Medway Maritime, near the Command House. You'll be able to hear it for quite a distance.

And Wilfried - you may have to fight to gain understanding! (BG)

Barleycorn (Linda, Myself + Ted Clark) will be presenting an evening of Irish music and song at "The Woodman", Farnbrough Village, KENT from 8.30 - 11pm. It's a nice little pub selling Shepherd Neame ales.
Feel free to come along if you're anywhere near.

Pehaps we should have changed our name to "The Juice of the Barleycorn" for this gig !

Not known when I posted above. I will certainly be at my local club (the Knights of St Columba) on the 17th. I've just put together (by request) a song sheet for the evening.
This means that I know what songs will be on the "community sheet", so I can pick a couple to sing myself which are not included. Oh, the joys of typing the songsheets!!!

But I've hope of getting to a gig or two in the Devon and/or Cornwall area.

I'll be playin' for the wee ones at the local elementary school in the AM, go to Mass with my pals & their families (I was raised Protestant, but who's counting? & the Father knows me & enjoys my Music.), playin' for the Irish dancers from the Irish dancing school at a local spot in the afternoon, squeeze in a nursing home set, & in the evening singin' & playin' Whistle/Bodhran/Guitar/whatever with the Ceoli band at some society event--the only $$ gig of the day.
Yep, I'll have to sing the usual Danny Boy-singin' both verses gets a better tip cause the old fellers cry, as does Mother Macree-- & the other Irish American songs, It is the midwest, after all. & lots of jigs, reels, hornpipes etc.
Can't play in the bars anymore, Dr. says stay away from all cigarette smoke. Not too conducive to making much $$ in gigs. But it's healthier.

Much more drunken than the proverbial skunken
The beer, will have run clear before the night was near.
As the Irish regret their pockets shrunken
By morning mist they are moribund.

But the dawn will find us gone.
To pick/steal/swindle a pocket more again.

Sincerely,
A Traveler's Leg-Ass-See

Around Cheltenham, Glos for the National Hunt Festival; avoiding the bloody awful pubs full of Irish punters singing a maximum of 5 different songs before repeating them. Over the years we have identified a couple of pubs which are more to our taste; quieter, real ale and decent irish music.

Start out at 4:30 AM on the set of the Morning show on WZZM TV 13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Will be on until 7:00 AM. Quick bite to eat and then a concert at a local factory owned by an Irishman (Byrne Electric). He puts on a full concert every year for his employee's, feeds them, and gives them the rest of the day off paid. Then its over to the Wee Friends Nursery to sing for the little folks. Then off to Quinn and Tuite's Irish pub for a 3 hour gig, and then off to Bennigans to play from 8 PM until midnight. Then into bed.

Anyone in the Lansing, Michigan area that is looking for a Fat Tuesday party, we are playing at Moriarty's Pub, 806 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI on February 24 from 9:00 til Midnight.

There is a listing on our webpage with most of our public gigs. It is HERE

Older son, Dave, will be playing with his group ("Magic River") for dancing in the ballroom. Dave's Daughter, Linnea, will demonstrate Irish Dancing there, along with the McArdle School of Irish Dance. Keep it in the family, I always say!
