Those of you who know me intimately (about three people on the Mudcat)know that I have discovered the ultimate vacation and I want to share it all with you!

I haven't booked it yet. I am trying to scare up a sympatico roommate. I have asked my autoharp cruise roommate if she wants to go. It should be a lot of fun! Just think, a Mudcat cruise!

love, harpgirl

Be sure to bring a rain slicker and an umbrella, harpgirl. July gets pretty wet down there in Southeast Alaska.

My wife and I went on Celebrity Cruise last July, we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. Some friends of ours had organized a "Folk Music Cruise"to Alaska. My wife gets a cruise and I get a week of music and Alaska and the plan was good.(so I thought)
The webmaster for some reason neglected to notify all the links that were listed about the cruise so it was very lightly attended, we had about 16 folks where I was led to think there would be 150 to 200 folkies to share music wih.
Alaska Mike is right on the weather, seven days, we had one really nice day. The tourist trap is set. Since you have limited days to view beautiful Alaska through the gray clouds and constant rain, the gift shops are pulling you in with all the china made dolls, bears and totem poles.
I really did waller in the luxury of the ship's food and desserts.I now can say we lived the life of millionaires with a weeks worth of 5 star dining. The room was nice and the crew was superb. They suggest the gratuity up front at first I resented the gesture but when the opportuniyty came to tip, we gave more than the reccomended amount.
Bottom line, we liked the cruise, didn't like the weather or the tourist trap gift shops. Nothing you can't control.
We had some good song sharing and jams. lots of good singing and even did the "talent show" one evening. We did that as a group.
I would hope that the Bluegrass cruise will bring on more interest than our un-publicised cruise. Happy sailing
Mudjack
