Subject: SING FOR YOUR LIFE - songwriting wkshps From: GUEST Date: 10 Mar 04 - 09:05 AM COMING OF AGE SING FOR YOUR LIFE workshops are part of a major community-based creative music-making project called 'Coming of Age', celebrating 21 years of Beverley & East Riding Folk Festival. Songwriting workshop series for all ages SAT 1, SUN 2, SAT 15, SAT 29 MAY, SAT 5, SUN 6 JUNE - Memorial Hall, Lairgate, Beverley Learn to write, record and perform your own songs over an exciting 6 day workshop series. Artistic leader and acclaimed songwriter Gary Miller (founder of the Whiskey Priests) accompanied by an outstanding range of visiting singer/songwriters, will guide you through the varied processes of songwriting, studio recording and performing. All participants will be able to produce a professional recording of one of their resulting songs and they will receive a souvenir CD of their efforts. Selected participants will also be given the opportunity to perfom one of their songs live on stage at Beverley & East Riding Folk Festival 2004. On Saturday 5th June, Gary Miller and visiting singer-songwriters will host a concert evening at the Memorial Hall, where workshop participants will have the opportunity to perform their song compositions. Individual tickets are available for the concert at £6 (£5 conc).
