Subject: Remember Bryony? From: GUEST Date: 10 Apr 04 - 03:22 PM Remember Bryony? Three lasses who were very popular in the Eighties. They have reformed for a few gigs a year. One of which is at the Bothy Folk Club Southport tomorrow night (Easter Sunday). That's at the Shelbourne Hotel, Lord St West, Southport. They would be pleased to see you there. Les |
Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? From: Herga Kitty Date: 10 Apr 04 - 03:55 PM They were at Haddenham Folk Day last December.... it'll be a good night at the Bothy. A (the?) reason they're only doing a few gigs is because they live so far apart. So it's a great treat when they get together. |

Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 11 Apr 04 - 09:25 AM I'm pleased to hear that the girls are performimg together again. When they originally formed, I was a member of the committee of the Topic Folk Club in Bradford, and we were one of the clubs who booked Bryony before they became well known. They always did an entertaining evening. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |

Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? From: LesB Date: 12 Apr 04 - 03:19 PM They can do better than a cassete, in 2002 they reissued 'The Last of the Great Whales' on C.D. with 6 extra tracks. 'The Last of the Great Whales', from Cock Robin Music CRM 065 contact Chris at c.h.poll@btinternet.com if you want a copy. We had a great night at the Bothy with them last night with guest spots from Strawhead & mudcatter Mark Dowding. Cheers Les |

Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? (UK folk group) From: Lancashire Lad Date: 13 Apr 04 - 12:50 PM Just heard back from Chris. The Bryony CD he put out is NOT a re-issue of the Tradition album. It is a re-issue of the LP made for Dragon. Some of the bonus tracks are re recorded live versions of tracks on the Tradition album. So my search for the cassette released on Tradition continues Can anyone help? LL |

Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? (UK folk group) From: GUEST,pdcawley Date: 18 Apr 04 - 03:39 AM I think my dad still has the tape that Cathy gave us all those years ago. It might have been stretched to buggery or eaten by a wayward player of course... |
Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? (UK folk group) From: pdcawley Date: 21 Apr 04 - 04:52 PM And it turns out Gill had one too. I have it here (and after some passage of time with various A->D convertors) I have a bunch of MP3 files on my hard disc. I'd forgotten how jolly good the album was. |
Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? (UK folk group) From: GUEST,padgett Date: 22 Apr 04 - 04:07 AM This was the York based group wasn't it, that had that lovely Hammered Dulcimer player in it called Ailsa, who was Scottish but worked as a journalist in nearby Malton, or have I completey lost the plot [again]!! Subject: RE: Remember Bryony? (UK folk group) From: Geoff the Duck Date: 22 Apr 04 - 02:05 PM I believe that Ailsa was a journalist, Ray. She was good friends with one of the columnists who worked on the Bradford Star, a local free paper. We used to get good publicity for the Topic Folk Club from the Star. Quack!! Geoff. |
