My name is Harris Lambrakis and I'm a student in the University of Ethnomusicology in Athens,Greece. I want to talk about the practical of the maqams and modes in Greece, Turkey, Persia, Arab world and Central Asia so far as Chinese Turkmenistan. I'm previously interested for historical informations.

Harris, don't get discouraged because of the lack of response, you've probably caught most of us out of our waters. I'm slightly acquainted with a young Turk here in Florida who is a violinist, I'll pass word along. If that doesn't lead to anything don't fret, the Mudcat is worldwide, sooner or later you'll get a response. Or at least an argument!!

Meanwhile, what are Maqams?

Frank i.t.s.

Maqam is a Arabic word that means "mode".
