Subject: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Micky Date: 13 May 04 - 06:52 PM Have you heard of this duo yet ? They sing traditional Scottish folk songs and do some beautiful instrumentals. They have a Cd out Boots & Roots ; it´s first class. Have a look at their website www.cameronbrothers.co.uk , or try to see them in East Kilbride / Glasgow. They are first class. |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Martin (guest) Date: 14 May 04 - 05:10 AM Totally agree. Wallace and John are excellent entertainment and can be seen on alternate Thursday nights at the Gardenhall Inn, East Kilbride. On Tuesdays Wallace (and John as well I think), goes up to the Auldhouse Inn. And on wednesday nights, we (a bunch of about 12 alcoholic folk musician friends), meet for a session in the Montgomerie Arms, in the Village in East Kilbride. All of these are good nights. Am I allowed to advertise by the way? |

Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Helen Date: 21 May 04 - 03:18 AM Great to see this thread on the Cameron Brothers! We in East Kilbride tend to take the guys for granted because they play locally and the fact that they are World Class performers goes over most local people's heads! They're off to play in Italy next month and then off on tour round the U.K. so do yourself a favour and try and see them if they're in your area. They're great! |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Karen Date: 25 May 04 - 07:16 AM I saw them perform at David Ross's Book Launch in Elderslie Town Hall on Saturday 22 May and they were excellent! David Ross is a Scottish historian and author and has written a new book entiled "Desire Lines:A Scottish Odyssy" and also lives in East Kilbride. I bought the book and the Cameron Brothers C.D. and would recommend both to anybody remotely interested in Scotland and it's culture. I'm hoping to see the guys play again before I head back home to Canada in a couple of weeks time. |

Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Fifer Date: 14 Jul 04 - 02:14 PM Their gig at Crail Folk Club was really good as well! A great selection of songs and tunes! |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Scotty Date: 27 Jul 04 - 08:18 PM Is Ian Rennie (G string banjo)joining the Cameron Brothers line up? He's really good and tonight's gig at the Auldhouse Arms was outstanding! He definitely contributes to Wallace's and Johnny's sound when he plays - what'd you reckon? |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Spiv Date: 30 Jul 04 - 06:13 PM Don't think this is the case Scotty, He just enjoys playing in the session part of the night! But you never know! If they ever need a banjo player he fits the bill! |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Donny Date: 06 Aug 04 - 06:53 AM No No No Scotty! That wont happen! The Cameron Brothers are first and foremost a duo of the highest order but they have and do work with other musicians subject to the gig or project they're involved in at any given time. To suggest Ian is joining them on a permanent basis is way off beam, besides he is totally committed to his own band ie The Kitchen Band and has been for the past twenty odd years! Because Wallace is the singer and guitarist and Johnny is the instrumentalist they can easily add on any other players they want, giving colour and different sounds and textures to what they produce themselves. As a musician myself I think they are outstanding and prefer them as a duo, although I did enjoy the spell they had with Sean O'Rourke(JSD Band)on flute and whistles and James(O'the Glen)MacVay on the box that was a fantastic combination! But whatever their line up you can count on one thing..it'll be really good! They don't need other players but they enjoy playing with them and whatever line up their in they really rock! They are just great musicians! |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Scotty Date: 11 Sep 04 - 08:14 PM It was good to see the Cameron Brothers back at the Auldhouse Arms on Tuesday night after a 2 week break. They were really cooking by gas and I'm looking forward to next Tuesday and Thursday at the Gardenhall Inn! |

Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: Padre Date: 13 Nov 04 - 10:27 PM Do you suppose that it could be that all these 'guests' are somehow related to the Cameron Brothers..(or maybe all the same person)...NAAHHH!! Never happen!!!! |
Subject: RE: Cameron Brothers From: GUEST,Spiv Date: 18 Nov 04 - 08:54 PM The gig was great Davy! a total sell-out! Clova and Adam Mcculloch were excellent in support and the Cameron Brothers with Sean O'Rourke and James McVey were just outstanding! |
