Kewick as a music centre went right down hill when the legendary fiddler William Irwin left town and moved to Elterwater. This was about 1840, and the place hasnt really recovered since.

not a folk club this...but a couple ( i have forgotten their name) play in a pub next to woolworths in the town moot square on either fridays or saturdays. they do great cover versions and are excellent musicians. they have q a following and the atmosphere is good in there. sorry i can't help any more; i think his name is john, the pub has photos of race horses on the walls. as for folk nights, i'm sure there used to be a wed night one at the hotel in the market place. oh well at least i tried to help...

Hi, There is a folk club near Keswick on a Thursday night, in the Wheatsheaf at Embleton, just off the Cockermouth road, on the right. 01900 604765 Terry Haworth for details. Enjoy, Dave Minikin

Thank you people, we have been to a club in the middle of Keswick 2 or 3 years ago and seen some good people doing all sorts of things with back up tapes. Not my stuff but much better than piped

every Tuesday - 8.30pm
Queens Hotel,
Main St. Keswick

This is from the website.

I think itis 2 years since we went. Perhaps somebody else knows.

I guess I could just ring the Queen's Head.

Yes I rang and it starts in July, pity we are going in June.

If William Irwin went to Elterwater at 18.40, it's only a 20 minutes drive, you'll get there well before closing time
