Subject: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: harpgirl Date: 18 May 04 - 09:27 PM I know we only have a few...not like the northeast or England but it's ours! Featured performers this year include: Arlo Guthrie, John McCutcheon, Darol Anger, Vassar Clements, Bryan Bowers, and Kevin Roth. I have two performances, the autoharp showcase, and MC duties "Under The Oaks." If you come, walk into the campground where all the after hours music happens. It's a friendly festival with tons of music. Here is a link to the main performers: Florida Folk Festival 2004 |

Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: harpgirl Date: 18 May 04 - 11:44 PM Gee wiz...I just qualified for the random drawing for Super Millionaire tomorrow by answering all the questions on the phone. I hope I don't have to go to New York on Friday for the taping...this is too weird...harpy |

Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 19 May 04 - 01:30 PM I'll be there selling pottery again this year. Our band's not playing so I don't have any musical commitments - just jammin' with whoever I wanna. Bruce |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: harpgirl Date: 19 May 04 - 05:25 PM Hope to see you and your wife again, and to play music with you this year Bruce. Also buy some pottery. But since they didn't get through to me this morning from Super Millionaire after I answered all the questions correctly last night on the phone, I am convinced it is not my dharma to be a super millionaire at this time! So I will not be buying your entire inventory to pass out to my friends! Sorry about that! |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 19 May 04 - 09:14 PM Sorry to hear you're still one of us po' folks, Harpy. Just keep tellin' yourself you're rich in the things money can't buy. It's usually a lie, but it beats hell outta the truth. By the way, are you gonna bring the new harp - the one that used to belong to Gove? I will buy some new plastic fingerpicks if you promise to let me try it out. (I use metal picks for guitar etc, but autoharps like to snatch 'em off and my own harp is on loan to a friend and the plastic picks went with it.) |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: harpgirl Date: 20 May 04 - 08:35 AM Bruce, you're welcome to play it. I will probably change out the finger tabs on the bars. They are too rigid for me and so I have an ambivalent relationship with this harp as yet. I have been playing bare fingered alot, myself. |

Subject: Florida Folk Festival 2004 From: Paul G. Date: 22 May 04 - 03:54 PM Memorial Day weekend at the Stephen Foster Park in White Springs. This is the 52nd annual. This year we'll be featuring Arlo Guthrie, Vassar Clements, Darol Anger -- many more. I'll be there doing a bit of performing with the Ashley Gang and some emcee duties. Anybody coming our way? Heres the web site: CLICK! --Paul I moved this message here from another thread on the same topic. Wish I could be there at the Florida Folk Festival this year, Paul. It sure was fun when I went a couple of years ago. |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: harpgirl Date: 22 May 04 - 05:27 PM Mudcat central (aka harpgirl's camp) will probably be in the middle of the back of the campground with the Miccosukee Land Coop folks. My canopy is red and my truck is white and my sign says "Harpgirl's Camp". Stop by for craic! plastic picks have gone up in price because they are made out of the dreaded petroleum, Bruce. |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: Paul G. Date: 22 May 04 - 06:40 PM Sorrry to make you work an extra bit, Joe -- but thanks for moving my post -- I sould have looked harder for another one on the topic -- sorry you can't make it, too. See you this weekend A & B...I'm emcee at the main stage Saturday morning (when pretty much nobody shows up to listen)...so come on by and heckle me a bit, will ya? P. |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: My guru always said Date: 23 May 04 - 04:37 PM Oh, this is refreshing! Really glad to see Festivals on the Cat from the other side of the pond. Wish I could pop over to this one, have fun Cats :-) |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: GUEST,Pete Peterson Date: 23 May 04 - 10:32 PM Sure sounds like fun! (remembering FLorida Folk Festivals of the past) wish we could be there but headed North instead to play in jams at Black Creek. Then Mt. Airy! |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 31 May 04 - 10:15 PM I am home. It was fun. I am tired. Highlights... Getting to play Harpy's new C harp Getting to play Paul G's new Mermer guitar Meeting Allan C., CarolC & Jack the Sailor in 3D Meeting 14 year-old mandolin wizard Josh Pinkham (his parents had a booth selling guitars & mandos right across from our pottery booth) Having Mike Marshall & Darol Anger watch the Pinkham's booth (and jam) while Josh played on stage By the way, Troll is alive and well. Just not into Mudcattin' any more. |
Subject: RE: Florida Folk Festival: 2004!!!! From: Paul G. Date: 02 Jun 04 - 07:27 PM It was a good, but typically very hot year. Saw Harp and BWL, Alan and CarolC. Never did make it back to pick up that piece from BW that we wanted (sorry Bruce -- things got a bit crazy...). I still want one of those bigger light green leaf imprint doo-dads that looked to me like a quadrangular hot plate or what-not holder. The artistry of Bruce and his delightful lady is a thing to behold, indeed... |
