I'm not quite sure what you mean by "traditional northern folk songs," Bryan. You might want to try Folk-Legacy Records (click here). Their Golden Ring CD's might be just what you're looking for.

Northern England, I assume. You might try ordering the Topic catalogue as they used to have tons of that stuff.

They don't have e-mail, but you can fax your request by e-mail by e-mailing it to:

remote-printer.Topic_Direct/London@441712815671.iddd.tpc.int

Yes, you have to put all of that in exactly in that form or the fax won't fax.

Make sure you give them your full address.

There is a lovely CD simply called 'Voices', although the material isn't limited to Northern England, and just now I don't have the label at my fingertips ... Still, it's one of my favourites. - Susanne

If your talking about the north of England ,how about anything by the Watersons {For Spice and Good Ale is outstanding} or The High Level Ranters are {were?} a great dance band from Newcas
