A new session is starting on 4th June (evening) at a pub called the Good Intent which is No.3 John Street in Rochester. It's going to be held on the first Friday of the month on a regular basis.

My good friend Fran the Fiddler (wot plays with Shave the Monkey) is hosting it. It's a nicely run down traditional pub and she is hoping to get a good crowd along just to play some tunes and sing a few songs.

There are various people coming from all parts of South London and Southern M25 and also a couple of people from her infamous band.

A good night should be had by all!

I think so Richard. I've not been there yet but it sounds that could be it!!!! Apparently its the new haunt with deserters from the Man of Kent. I'm not allowed to ask why they deserted the Man of Kent.

PS I don't remember the leather underwear at the M of K but then I do vaguely remember they sold a beer called Gold Star but thats about as much as I remember..........

No point in PMing Slats - there's no longer a Mudcat member with that name - Val didn't set up as new member, Dilligaf, she obviously renamed the Slats one !    PM Dilligaf - she's the boss anyway - before she lets him out on his own, she needs to know who he's going to play with. ;-))

Twas a fine evening and thanks to those who joined us. All the elements of a good session with flowing beer (literally at one point) songs, dancing and plenty of tunes on a variety of intruments (TWO oboes at one point!). Hoping to repeat on the first Friday in July... get your diaries out

First Friday in July - my mate George Wilson is up from Southampton and playing in The Prince of Wales Strood. I'll try and share myself between the two venues. First Friday in August - ouch!! that's the last night of Sidmouth - First Friday in September - ouch!! at the Fylde Folk Festival - First Friday in October - ouch!! booked for Tenterden, so it looks like Bonfire night (Friday 5th. November) for me. Blimey - didn't know I was that busy!!

The Good Intent Session reconvenes on Friday 2nd July. DO NOT MISS this exciting new venue! Last month there was music, song and dance and a caberet act from the guru of modern table jazz drumming.

...as for the oboes ... met someone else at a session last night who plays oboe (there are a lot of us about).. unfortunately don't think she'll make it to Rochester.... oh just think THREE oboes! Magic!

Many thanks to all who made it to Rochester last night. It was a good mixture of diddly diddly and some fine songs. I enjoyed myself and even managed to get up feeling relatively sane for work today!

Okay, so I'm aware that this thread is old news, but Ye Gods, three oboes sounds like heaven to me... *Moonunit giggles*

Shame Rochester is too far away for a sesh or we could go for the oboe session record and make it FOUR! *Moonunit gurgles with delight*

It can be an isolating experience being the only oboist in a session (mainly because everyone else has left the room). *Moonunit sighs*

So, come on all ye Mudboes, how many of us are there out there? Don't be shy now...
