Subject: RE: Your chance to see ETHNO ENGLAND From: Linda Kelly Date: 05 Jun 04 - 03:53 AM Actually, it won't be full of children at all. There are musicians from England Scotland Belgium Germany Serbia Uganda Mozambique to name but a few. Most are professionnal musicians who are sponsored by their cultural centres -it's hard to get a visa any other way for non EEC participants- the average age is 19+. We expect the standard to be very high which is only right if we are giving public performances, and we are carryng forward the Ethno concept from the success of other Ethnos on the continent. We hope we will continue to have a place amongst the many festivals which promote traditional English and Scottish music in this country. There may be traditional singing music and ethnic clothing, but why shouldn't these people be proud of their music as we should be proud of our own? Our artistic leaders include Tim Van Eycen, James Fagan and Nancy Kerr as well as our Director Sam Pirt, so I don't think we will have time for Rainbow music! Come see and enjoy. |

Subject: RE: Your chance to see ETHNO ENGLAND From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 14 Jun 04 - 07:44 AM Are any of them likely to get out and about during the festival? It would be nice to get some input into the fringe events. R |

Subject: RE: Your chance to see ETHNO ENGLAND From: rhoda horse Date: 15 Jun 04 - 06:25 AM This seems to have as much to do with Folk Festivals as Kylie Minogue. What's next ETHNO HEAVY METAL? Nice idea, wrong festival. This sort of stuff is well catered for outside of the folk arena. |
Subject: RE: Your chance to see ETHNO ENGLAND From: GUEST Date: 15 Jun 04 - 07:10 AM Dear Horse I was for a long time active on mudcat and now infrequently visit, you are one of the type of narrow minded people that stopped my intrest in what once was a beatiful site, when I return you do not dissapoint, from what I have read this is a worthwhile venture that requires support therefore do not bother replying to my donation as it will be a long time till i come back again and start supporting not knocking or BUTT OUT. |
Subject: RE: Your chance to see ETHNO ENGLAND From: GUEST,Hugh Jampton Date: 15 Jun 04 - 07:35 AM Surely it would be better called "Another Festival of International Traditional Music and Dance" rather than "ETHNO ENGLAND". By so doing the performers from all over would then be fairly recognized as part of a "world" event. Even better, why not "WORLDMO 2004", just like the football event. |
Subject: RE: Your chance to see ETHNO ENGLAND From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 15 Jun 04 - 08:42 AM We have a song and tune session going in the back room of the Sun on Friday evening and would be pleased to see any of the EthnoEngland people there. R |
