I have, as a result of an earlier bin totting exercise, and an imminent search of my special secret squirrel hoard, somwe books which our school considers surplus to requirements. As I'm retiring in a couple of years, I can't see them being any use at home, so is anyone interested in giving them a good home.

Community Dances Manuals 1 – 5, bound together. EFDSS
The Country Dance Book: Parts 1,2,3,4 & 6 (Cecil Sharp)
Swing Partners (Clark & Evans) EFDSS
The Oxford School Music Books: Junior, Book 1, Words and Melody Edition
And possibly, when I have checked to see if it is a duplicate, The New National Song Book, Stanford & Shaw, Words and Melody Edition

Penny

I now have, in addition, three 45 rpm records of country dance music. English Folk Dances by McBain's Country Dance Band, including the tunes Durham Rangers, Nan's Waltz, Red Red Rose, Nae Luck, Kafoozalum, Saddle the Pony and Hills of Glenorchy; Swing Partners by The Allemanders, including Major Mckies Jig, Fiery Clock faces, Foggy Dew, Old King Cole, My Grandfather's Clock and Red River Valley; The Greensleeves No. 2 - Jigs and Reels by The Greensleeves Country Dance Band, including Greenholm, Love, Port and Sherry, The Witches Jig, Feathers, The Muffin Man, Cornish Quickstep, Babes in the Wood and Drunken Piper. All are from the EFDSS.

Penny, you might think of putting these up at the auction? It can subsidize your hoarding (I'm guilty too!) and raise some money for Mudcat!

Newcastle University is trying to build a cohearent library of this sort of thing. They would be accessable to lots of students then (including me!!) - not trying to cut mudcat auction out of funds sorry...but I'll pass this on to Alistair if thats OK.

Fay, do investigate that.

And JenEllen, I didn't think of that. When I uncumber, I just get rid of things - usually to charity shops.

This is after failing to sell some Tolkein first editions on Amazon and some New Scientists on Ebay. Oxfam was very grateful for the Tolkein.

If Newcastle isn't interested, I'll put them up for the auction.

And Paddymac, are you going to get back on the other books?

Penny

As a dealer in this material...best advice I can give?..if you need the money sell on ebay.

If you want them to go to a good home......then send to Newcastle as Fay suggests.

Best regards

I sent an email to the dept, but as everyone there is usually very busy they are quite crap doing extra stuff like this.

If you are interested in donating them, I could sort that out myself, or if you want to suggest a price I can start a negotiation with them, unless someone from the dept does get in touch...

If it is good money you're after though, I'd suggest ebay too!

Fay, don't bother about the money - it's a donation. Let me know the address.
