Sorry All the named Chords above the words have been moved from where I put them. They are the correct chords for a simple arrangement they have just been moved approx 6 spaces backwards from where they should be. If you listen when you sing you,ll know when to change.

Scure the prentious name (originally for CB radio when it was illegal and fun) I always played this song in D major.as below.

         D      G         D
Oh that I could hear the birds again
                     G
In the fields of Ardmourn
          D             G          D
Where the Sun Lies over Sllom Vo ....o
       C               D
And the Mist Silent all around

If you fingerpick you can tune the bass E string down one note to a D and occassionally pick that to suit your picking style and get something similar to the CorriesOriginal,

Sorry, as previously discussed, it is not practical to port HARMONY onto other platforms. It is a very large program written entirely in VB, which only runs on Windows. To convert to C++ would take YEARS of work.

It took me several months just to convert it from VB3 to VB5!

Unless, of course, there is a volunteer who would like to help!

mmmm - bet it is good, but running a mac... I probably don't get a look in.

Don't know if you are interested, but HARMONY (3.3.0) can now import chord names in the format given above, as part of an abc file, provided that square brackets are used like this

Each chord will be aligned to the same note as the following word,
and the tune can then be played with the chords.

Hess,

Try using open tuning DGDGBD for this tune. You can play in open G   or adjust your key as required with a capo. From memory the other chords you need (the DGDGBD will give you the first chord) are C and D7. C chord is 1st fret 2nd string and 2nd fret fourth string - don't play the top or bottom D, and D7 chord is 1st fret 2nd string, 2nd fret 3rd, 2nd fret 5th -play all strings. If you can finger pick a little, all the better.. Good luck

I know this tune is in the Corries song book and I also know it isn't hard to play. It can be hardest for me to figure the simplest stuff while I can decipher tougher stuff fairly well.

I think you'll find this is a I - IV - V and the odd relative minor type tune. Because of the harmonies the Corries were capable of they chord locations could be hard to find.

I'll try and post them for you tomorrow id I can find the song book.

I'm a singer not an instrumentalist...
but I've been told to stop being lazy, and (having an OK ability with basic chords, but difficulty with being so absorbed in the song that I struggle doing more than that at one time) sort myself out.

Hills of Ardmorn has "caught" me at the moment - can anyone help with some thing not toooo challenging?
