Subject: aspies unite! From: mimestream Date: 08 Jul 04 - 02:00 PM I am looking for lyrics in particular that appeal to an apergerish mindset. Dylanish, radiohead-type music. But I mean, new music that's on the forefront. Underground music that I may not have discovered yet. I'm tired of bubblegum mass-music. Some people would not consider Dylan aspergerish but in a way he is. On relistens he is. You either cannot stand him, or you recognize him for the unique individual he is. His son does not like being compared with him, but he has an appeal all his own too. Can anyone think of any newsounds out there by unnusual groups and/or people speaking to unnusual people? |

Subject: RE: aspies unite! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 08 Jul 04 - 07:23 PM Asperger Syndrome, much discussed here. I'm sorry, mimestream, my son listens almost exclusively to music for video games- and composes much of the same. I'm a boring old trad. folkie, so I doubt if I can help you! Allison |
Subject: RE: aspies unite! From: Janice in NJ Date: 09 Jul 04 - 12:18 AM I have at times been accused of having Asperger's syndrome. I have also been called an Eleanor Rigby. The truth is there are times I simply would rather not relate to the people around me. And Allison fibs. She is not a boring old trad folkie. She is a very exciting young trad folkie, and a rather beautiful one as well. |
Subject: RE: aspies unite! From: Blackcatter Date: 09 Jul 04 - 10:54 AM I doubt there's a A.S. "type" of music. If there is, I haven't a clue what it is. Most of my A.S. friends who are more singnificantly affected by it, enjoy music in general, but do not seem to go looking for it like many of us at the Mudcat do. One friend has the most extensive collection of movie themes since that's what he listens to - movies and their music. I doubt if he has even turned on a radio in 20 years. I like just about everything, but I really love sons that tell the story of a person. It probably connects with my difficulty of understanding people. |
Subject: RE: aspies unite! From: Sorcha Date: 09 Jul 04 - 11:45 AM How about what, IMO, is the nasty rock music? Or, you could write your own lyrics...... I wanna piss you off, I wanna make you mad I don't know and I don't care how you feel Couldn't understand anyway cause it's not my day to watch you.... (NOT a slam at the Asperger's folk) |
