Thanks folks.
Georgian silver, "the list" is just a turn of phrase for checking in so that we know who is intending to perform and can give them the nod, hopefully in good time, to get prepared. Sooz and Mr Sooz have been especially impressed by the way that we organise this! It'd be great to see you, you'd be very welcome. Likewise Mr Sooz, great to know you'll be there. Here's hoping the karma will spread to the test match boys for Thursday vs the WestIndies.

Strollin' sorry to hear you're abroad. Have a good trip and raise a glass to us Monday night if so minded. That voice and guitar playing of yours would grace any club. By the way keep working on Matt re booking Jack Hudson and I'll do the same.

Daithi, I'll give you a shout.Re directions, Thanks G.

Thanks Georgian, we'll look forward to welcoming you. Regards also to travelling audience who also made the trip down to our last night at the Regency. Sorry the slower tempo to The German Clockwinder compromises your video Travellers, but it is much better to sing along with at the new wiser pace ! Anybody see the programme on Richard Thompson after getting back from Gainsborough Folk Club. It was really interesting to someone who missed folk rock first time around. At that time I was into Rory Gallagher! More of that and less mindless reality TV gameshows I say. Hope you had a good night last night and I will get over soon.

Thanks

G.

No offense Gaucho, but this post initially sounds like an invitation to the planet at large, but you neglected to include just exactly where this club is located. However, after reading the posts I'm certain you intended this notice for a circle of friends that you knew frequented this forum from your particular area. I'm sure this oversight was unintentional on your part. Which leads, if you will indulge me, to this thread creep.

I have read any number of threads that at first looked as though they may include information about matters closer to my locale only to discover at some later point that the thread in question was intended for a group of folks from a completely different area of the world. Of course, many times it is quite obvious by the names of places mentioned in these posts, even without an official address, that they're speaking about a festival, event or pub located on some far flung island or another. My question is this, is there some way that we can flag posts, perhaps using a national flag of origin of the person who is posting, to quickly identify the country where the post originated? It would be an easy way for those who hail from a particular region of the planet to identify posts from those who may live close by and for those who wish to discuss local matters to easily locate threads representing such.

Being limited by my own constraints to only a relatively small geographic region of the planet, I do at times enjoy reading the posts of those who inhabit other places. It's a particular treat as well to hear folks perform during a Paltalk session from other countries.

Where ever this club is, it sounds like a good time was had by all.

Look at the most recent thread and you will see the exact location of Lincoln folk club. It was published on another thread when the venue changed. Best wishes.

The problem is that the header doesn't allow much text, but it may be possible to add at the end whereever possible UK USA AUS etc.
It is quite important to let people know which part of the globe the event refers to.

Georgiansilver, I now hail from just beyond the event horizon of the known universe, way over here in the upper left corner of the U.S.A.
Originally I'm from The Land Of Lincoln, Illinois, one of the midwestern states.

That's what initially prompted me to view the thread. I thought that it might be refering to an event somewhere in or around "The Land Of Lincoln" where Abe Lincoln was born and raised. I now believe this is not the case, but rather that this event is taking place somewhere outside the U.S. I'm guessing it is perhaps somewhere in the British Isles but still cannot tell for certain. Never having traveled abroad, I am not very familiar with how general addresses differ in various parts of the world.

Then there's the habit, here in the U.S., of bar owners who try to imitate various drinking establishments from the Britian Isles and elsewhere by applying a decor, products (brews) and a name that emulates them. So reading a post about an event at a place (for example) called Murphy's Irish Pub, may not actually give much information about where this actual pub may be located. It could be in any number of locations across the globe.

Again, please forgive this habit of mine to drift away from the actual intended message and subject of this thread. I was merely trying to make a very small point for those, like myself, who may be geographically challenged.

Reggie
Its United Kingdom or Britain or what some people wrongly call England :-)

Maybe Lincoln here which is in a county called Lincolnshire should twin with your Lincoln. Click on the link below to see some pictures of Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England (part of Great Britain or United Kingdom)
