With her fine lakes and valleys and the famed Yeats' grave
But come with me now to a place of renown
To a picturesque village they call Riverstown

For beautiful scenery, sure you couldn't want more
From Heapstown to Highwood and Ballindoon shore
Where lovely Lough Arrow lies tranquil and still
And there's sweet Ballyrush and back down Cooper's Hill

Then it's down to Poola where we first went to school
And we played in the fields where the buttercups grew
But we soon spread our wings and we went on our way
But we'll all meet again at the old Vintage Day

Every farmer in Ireland will be leaving the land
He'll be heading for Riverstown, dudeen in hand
There'll be wheeling and dealing and yarns to tell
And you'll sample the brown bread and the porter as well

With the TVO tractors, penny-farthings and ploughs
And the horse-drawn mower that you'll never see now
Oh, the corncrake is gone, but I dream of her still
Singing out o'er the sound of the old thrashing mill
