Selling Guitars--guidance request

Subject: Selling Guitars--guidance request

I am not going to go into too much details, because I am not trying to sell them here and take unfair advantage of the board. But I have "a few too many" guitars and I would like to trim the stable to, perhaps just one. Any suggestions on places (electronic or "real") where I might try to do this? And how can I get a realistic fair market value so I can make sure I am not being took or taking anyone?

This plan is a little more involved, too. I am planning on taking the tour of the Martin factory, and being open to buying one right there (but only if I have been able to divest myself of at least two others). Does anyone know if there is any particular advantage to the strategy of buying it right there? If there is not, I will probably just take the tour anyway, and put off any ideas of owning one, at least for the forseeable future.

To protect their dealers Martin can not sell from the factory. There are many dealers close to the factory that will sell you a new or used Martin and also sometimes buy/trade what you have.

1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom Limited Edition Goldtop, Serial# 80560084, a very rare les paul, it has a pearl plate on back of headstock with (Reg No 42)it was the 42nd one made of its kind, i have pics of the numbers and the guitar, vintage dealers that i talk to hasnt seen a les paul like this, i dont play it, i have it put away, i dont want to damage it price$5500, my email is [e-mail] or call 606 374 7616. saulgoldie, pick up a great magazine called Vintag Guitar. Borders or Barnes and Nobles should have it. There are tons of dealer ads in it. They might also carry the Vintage Guitar price guide, usually found in the guitar and music related book section. From there you can get a good idea what to ask for any instrument.

Vintage Guitar magazine also has an extensive classifed section where you can really reach the buyer's market.

Online there is a free classified section at the 13th Fret discussion forum (www.13thfret.com) that predominatly features good acoustic guitars. Good luck. vl

The Flatpick-L list, the UMGF (Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum), and the Collings Forum all take "for sale" adds (the latter two have special areas for that purpose), but you have to sign on before you can post to any of   'em.
