Found the tune as taim_sinte_ar_do_thuama. I'll need to do some more digging for what may be multiple tunes. If I post here as ABC Notation do you have an ABC Player? If not may I suggest that you download ABCMUS from Henrik Norbeck in the meantime (for PC).

In fact I'll now wait until I get some further feedback. I can't find a source of any other tune - even though an alternative thread on this song suggests that there is. Adding the aligned lyrics is still a bit painful with the tools at my disposal, however I'll do so upon request.

Thank you for your attempts at helping. Obviously the Dead Can Dance version is quite a bit different from that which was loaded up for the ABCMus. That sounded more like a spritely march. What I was looking for is pretty Dorian and very slow.

Guess I will wing it without guitar.

Try it with a drone of some sort. That the way DCD did it, right? It works really well with the buzz of the exhaust fan in the men's room at my church.

The irish group Scullion recorded the original in 1980 which was released on their debut album on the Mulligan label. Philip King, a member of the group, put the music to the old Irish poem. I can confrm this as I was the producer/arranger of the song and the album.

Nobody has mentioned the absolutely stunning version by Peta Webb and Ken Hall on their recent CD "AS CLOSE AS CAN BE". A haunting, unaccompanied harmony performance. Electrifying! Tape down the hairs on the back of your neck before you listen otherwise your shirts won't fit for a week.
