Subject: RE: Oak Ash & Thorn (Dave Swan) to Seattle From: mg Date: 06 Aug 04 - 12:07 AM I'd love to come but probably can't make it. I usually work on the weekends....I clicked on the web page and see that Hank Cramer, a wonderful singer, is off to Afghanistan. I think he is Special Forces. mg |

Subject: RE: Oak Ash & Thorn (Dave Swan) to Seattle From: MAG Date: 06 Aug 04 - 10:24 AM Would love to pop over, but a good friend's (60th) birthday party is that night. yep, knock 'em dead. Let's all waft good thoughts in Hank's direction. My church is collecting clothes & blankets for an orphanage there, channeled through the troops. That is something I can happily contribute to. |

Subject: RE: Oak Ash & Thorn (Dave Swan) to Seattle From: Dave Swan Date: 07 Aug 04 - 12:23 PM Thanks, Jess. The name was a gift from a friend. Kipling did write a poem called that, but those three plants have a history which extends farther back in folklore. Why Annie thought it was a good name for us is lost in the mists of thirty years, but it seems to have stuck. Variously we've been called Ripped, Smashed & Torn, another friend never fails to call us Toke Stash and Porn, yet another wag insists on calling us Palm Plumeria and Breadfruit. Hmmmm. |
