Down in North Oxfordshire w/c 22 August. Are there any singarounds in the Oxford/Banbury/Chipping Norton area during the week where we would be welcome to listen/play? Prefer a singaround environment rather than somewhere with floorspots or a guest on.

In the absence of that can anyone recommend a folk club where something might be on?

Not sure if The Mill at Banbury shuts down for August , but if not its on Wednesdays right alongside Banbury Lock on the canal . Has my seal of approval as a Good Club !

There used to be a Thursday night jam throughout the 80s at the Black's Head at Bletchingdon (just off the Oxford road south of Bicester) I hope it is still there

22nd - Session, Half Moon, Oxford, pm
24th - Session, Oxford Arms, Kirtlington, pm
25th - Session, Half Moon, Oxford, pm
       Session, The Plough, Long Wittenham, pm
26th - Session, Rock of Gibralter, Blechingdon, pm
27th - Killingworth Castle, Wooton near Woodstock. Regular guests
       followed by singaround.

Info from Shire Folk, I can vouch for Sunday, Half Moon, Wednesday, The Plough, Friday, Killingworth Castle.

Things can happen any night at the Half Moon as a lot of folk performers live or hang around the place, but don't go there expecting something to happen, Sunday is safe, Wednesday is fairly certain.

I imagine there'll be a singaround in the barn of the Three Horseshoes in Towersey on the evening of Friday 27... (festival tickets not needed).

You could always peruse the Sessions, SAR bar music page of cresby.com and look for Adderbury, Balscote (check with pub), Bakers Arms Broad Campden (oh that is once a month and 22 is at least the third week), Chipping Norton, Thrupp (Granny West confirmed) and the Old Bletchingdon SAR has moved to Enslow - the organiser confirmed at Warwick recently (where Granny West was selling her wines), - but ring any contact numbers just in case. There is always the box session at Tredington / Shipston

Tell me what you find is up to date or even gone.

Hey Mr. Red. I remember your name when I subscribed to the eceilidh list. Are you in Oxfordshire? Do you just dance or do you call? The ceilidh band I play for uses about four callers, but the more the merrier, depending on the availabilty of the others and their suitability for the gig.

Speaking of Towersey... does anyone know if there's likely to be a session on the Thursday evening/night? I'm in Oxford that week, but that's the only time I can get to the festival. Thanks.

No I live in Gloucestershire but I collect info on attached counties (like Shropshire - ??)

I haven't called but there are a goodly number of dances described on my site. If you have any ceilidhs that the public have access to let me know the details - I can list them on my dance diary page.
