Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Plow to the end of the row From: Joe Offer Date: 18 Aug 04 - 09:30 PM I wonder if this Link to Amazon will work. It's worth looking up the reviews of the album, Plow to the End of the Row, by Adrienne Young and Little Sadie. Can't say I've ever heard of Young, but the song clips sounded good. Apparently, all songs on the CD were written by young. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Plow to the end of the row From: GUEST,Dale Date: 19 Aug 04 - 09:29 PM (I thought I posted this, but it did not show up, so if the other post manages to find its way here, just delete one) Not quite true, Joe, but she IS an excellent writer, excellent person, too for that matter. I fully intended to go see her and Little Sadie when they were in the Branson area in June, but things didn't work out. For a person with broadband (or LOTS of time and patience) go to Woodsongs, slip on down to #299 and DOWNLOAD the video of the show which featured her and her band. Then you can watch it any time you feel like it. Look for her at 6:40, 36:45, 1:05:40(promo)and 1:14:00 That last one is a ROUSING, infectious version of Big Sciota. I dare you to keep your feet still. You also get Tony Furtado as a bonus on that show. Click here for her home page ~~ Adrienne Young . There are sound samples there, but definitely follow her Community (brand new forum!) and Almanac links, too. The press section will give you a bit more of her philosophy on life. Heck, check them all. All good and guaranteed to please. She may well convince you to go out and start plowing your garden tomorrow. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Plow to the end of the row From: GUEST,gulchero Date: 20 Aug 04 - 06:14 PM Thanks for all the info. It has been helpful in learninga bout her. I still am not confident that I have all the words in that verse. I think that it is: My baby's waitin for me at the end of the day lights upon the Jack in the sweetest way I' gonna plow, plow to the end of the row, My baby's waiting for me so I'll plow to the end of the row |
Subject: Lyr Add: PLOW TO THE END OF THE ROW (A Young) From: Jim Dixon Date: 22 Aug 04 - 10:21 PM Transcribed from the sound file at NPR: All Songs Considered, Episode 60: PLOW TO THE END OF THE ROW Adrienne Young Wake up in the mornin' in the moonlight gray. We got dirt to break. We got a note to pay. I'm gonna plow, plow to the end o' the row. I'm gonna wake up in the mornin' an' plow to the end o' the row. Down to the kitchen with my feet still bare, Children to the tablecloth to say a prayer. I'm gonna plow, plow to the end o' the row. Down to the kitchen, got to plow to the end o' the row. Cornbread for breakfast, won't you pour the grinds? Gotta cut the furrow 'fore the sun gets high. Gonna plow, plow to the end o' the row. Cornbread for breakfast, an' I'll plow to the end of the row. Sun just broke out over the trees. I got a achin' in my back an' a tremblin' in my knees. If the mule won't pull, then the plow won't go. If the seed don't set, then the crop won't grow. Chickens to the market seven miles to town. Gotta make it home 'fore the sun goes down. Big storm comin'. I can see it in the sky. Hope it don't rain 'fore the clothes get dry. I got rocks in my shoes, an' dirt in my eyes. Work like a dog till the day I die. Ya got to plow, plow to the end o' the row. I got rocks in my shoes, gonna plow to the end o' the row. My baby's waitin' for me at the end o' the day. I'd like to ball the jack in the sweetest way. I'm gonna plow, plow to the end o' the row. My baby's waitin' for me so I'll plow to the end o' the row. Wake up in the mornin' in the moonlight gray. We got dirt to break. We got a note to pay. I'm gonna plow, plow to the end o' the row. I'm gonna wake up in the mornin' an' plow to the end o' the row. [Sung by Adrienne Young & Little Sadie on "Plow to the End of the Row," AddieBelle Music CD 77777, 2004.] |
