Beth, myself and little Danny will be staying in Staithes from 2nd Oct to 10th. Is there anywhere we would likely bump into other Mudcatters that week. (Danny my son, is now three yrs old (I,m 64) so would need somewhere that would allow a three year old mudcat trainee who loves music to be present.

There is a folk club at The White Hart in Mickleby (about 8 miles from Staithes) on a Saturday night. Starts about 8.30 - 9pm

Well behaved children are always welcome.

The Plough folk club is on Wednesday (Baxtergate Whitby) The First In Last Out (FILO) club is on Tuesday (up in Fishburn Park, don't know the street, Whitby) and the Endeavour, Saturday eveing session (Church street) and the Tap & Spile, Sunday
(opposite the railway station)

As for children, I doubt if any of these venues are open house, but one can always ask

From my memory, The Plough allows children into their sessions and it is no smoking. At least it was when I went there when Moor and Coast was on this year.

Willbyhillbilly The Plough
The club meets every Wednesday @ 8-30 pm and is still basically run as a Sing-a-round with musical interludes. The downstairs room is wheelchair and child friendly and non-smoking on Wednesday nights.
Everyone is encouraged to contribute towards the friendly atmosphere, and we are pleased to welcome all friends, holidaymakers old and new to the PLOUGH any WEDNESDAY you're in WHITBY.

I would give Mick or Angi (The organisers) a ring before you go and just make sure that it is on and indeed is still child friendly and non smoking.

The FILO is no.1 York Terrace, Fishburn Park. I know cos I used to live in the house next door. They didn't have a folk club when I lived there though...boo!
