One of my bandmates, Marty, is working in Japan (living in Tokyo). He is excellent harmonica and good guitar player, loves Bluegrass and Blues, knows many songs, and also is big on Hank Williams and other stuff like that. What do you play, and what's your favorite music? If there's a match, I'll send you his email address.

I was talking to an old friend of mine in Tokyo last week. We used to practise kendo together when I was living in Japan. His name is John Clarke (03 0898 4210; mobile [phone]) he mentioned an old aquaintance (another kendoka whose name slips my mind) who plays whistles etc.

Give John a call and mention my name,Frank Dutton, and he might be able to put you in touch with the guy.

Alex, just a thought from my days in Japan — long, long ago — that might help you. Why not check with some of the U.S. military bases in the area (I was Air Force, so I think of Fuchu Air Station, Tachikawa Air Base, Chofu and Green Heights housing areas and a few others in that area, and ask if there is any way to put up some notices around the bases. There are probably a lot of musicians around who would be looking for other people to play with. Of course the bases may all be changed around now, but you get the idea.
